Free Speech Victory

Claremont McKenna College completes Student Conduct Process on April 6 blockade
Findings and Outcomes
On the evening of April 6, a group of approximately 170 individuals from the Claremont Colleges and others outside our community organized, led, and executed a blockade of the Athenaeum and the Kravis Center. They breached the perimeter safety and security fence and campus safety line, and established human barriers to entrances and exits. These actions deprived many of the opportunity to gather, hear the speaker, and engage with questions and comments.
The blockade breached institutional values of freedom of expression and assembly. Furthermore, this action violated policies of both the College and The Claremont Colleges that prohibit material disruption of college programs and created unsafe conditions in disregard of state law.
Through a review of available video and photographic evidence, the College initially identified twelve CMC students as potential participants in the blockade. After further review, the College charged ten students with violations of College policy. Three of those students were then found not responsible for any violation. After a full conduct investigation and review process for the remaining seven students, an independent community panel found each student responsible for policy violations.
-Three students received one-year suspensions.
-Two received one-semester suspensions.
-Two were put on conduct probation.
All sanctions include strong educational components.

VIDEO: Columbia Student Cries Over Trump Chalking on Campus

Thanks in large part to the Emory University students who pathetically panicked after seeing pro-Trump messages written in chalk on campus sidewalks, pro-Trump messages are now appearing on other college campuses. The whole thing is going viral on Twitter under the hashtag #TheChalkening.

We covered the great campus Chalkening back in April. (See panel)

In this video, James O'Keefe and Project Veritas Action journalists "trigger" a Columbia University student while chalking for Trump. While chalking and building a mini wall, the Columbia student became overly emotional and scared. When the student continued to have a meltdown, campus security intervened and asked O'Keefe to leave. A school maintenance worker immediately washed away the Trump chalkings with a hose once O'Keefe and the PVA journalists left.

Do I have to say it?

"... under investigation for truthful posts..."

Islamic law forbids criticism of Islam, Quran, Muhammad. If they cannot be criticized in the US, we are in effect accepting Islamic law as overriding the freedom of speech. This would establish Muslims as a protected class and prevent honest discussion of how Islamic jihadists use the texts and teachings of Islam to justify violence and supremacism.

What terrible spell is the West living under.? There is no blasphemy in a free society. And yet one Muslim complains, and an entire career is destroyed.

A spokesman for the board said it was aware of concerns raised by a community member about public postings on a Facebook page under the name Ghada Sadaka. Sadaka is identified as a principal in the York board on the page.

What terrible spell is the West living under.? There is no blasphemy in a free society. And yet one Muslim complains, and an entire career is destroyed.
Apparently an Ontario, Canada school principal [Ghada Sadaka.] criticizing Muslims in Europe for not standing up against the violence done in the name of their religion, and expressing an opinion that burkas should be permitted in France when bikinis are permitted in Saudi Arabia, is enough to cause a public furor and calls for her termination.

Islam and Islamic government are a unique threat to free speech and liberty. Freedom of speech is the foundation of a free society. Without it, a tyrant can wreak havoc unopposed, while his opponents are silenced.

Putting up with being offended is essential in a pluralistic society in which people differ on basic truths. If a group will not bear being offended without resorting to violence, that group will rule unopposed while everyone else lives in fear, while other groups curtail their activities to appease the violent group. This results in the violent group being able to tyrannize the others. [Full]

This is how close we are to allowing ... ALLOWING ... the nullification of our  First Amendment rights (what's left of them) in this country.  It is, IMO, the only issue of critcal importance facing voters in this year's presidential election.

If I don't like it, it's a hate crime

a major award

In a section of the complaint titled “Evidence of Racial Animus,” the federal agent also noted that Butler has “numerous tattoos indicative of white supremacy, including ... a Confederate flag.”

By that standard gang bangers
could be sent to death row if  they have gang
tats that require killing for initiation.* Res ipsa loquitur

At a higher level, Liberals effectively struck the First Amendment right to free speech when they discovered "Hate Crime" legislation.  Click-Click
*Initiation by cop (kill a police officer); Blood In:commit a gang assigned murder to join the gang.; Blood Out: commit a murder in order to leave the gang.

Holder, Again!

The U.S. Department of Justice has sent a member of its Community Relations Service team to investigate a Nebraska parade float that criticized President Obama.

A Fourth of July parade float featured at the annual Independence Day parade in Norfolk sparked criticism when it depicted a zombie-like figure resembling Mr. Obama standing outside an outhouse, which was labeled the “Obama Presidential Library.”

The Nebraska Democratic Party called the float one of the “worst shows of racism and disrespect for the office of the presidency that Nebraska has ever seen.”

Read more:

"The float’s creator, Dale Remmich, has said the mannequin depicted himself, not President Obama."  I believe him because the mannequin doesn't make sense if it's Obama.  But, even if it was depicting Obama, what the hell is racist about it?  Oh, right.  It criticises Dear Leader.

SO HANG IN THERE
It is not unlawful to shoot at targets depicting a president, nor is it against the law to hang one in effigy.

Analogy and Allegory To The Rescue
You're Welcome

Pat Dollard introduced this video of leftists, wrathful over their failure to get Duck Dynasty thrown off the air, as "Typical Black MSNBC Racist Dyson Compares Phil Robertson To Sodomizer ..."

Aren't we at the point where any commentary containing the  letters MSNBC in the lede is fair warning of what's coming?  A Mack Sennett silent film, replete with Keystone cops and people dangling from tall buildings?  The Three Stooges poking each other in the eye?  For me, this Michael Eric Dyson (also an MSNBC All-Star) statement is  the money shot of the entire imbroglio.

"They have turned this into a matter of free speech;  the irony of that is they don't want more speech to counteract their negative vicious offensive and ..."

Beauty. And they are obviously able to see truth in their own bizarre logic.  It was right about here that I thought of another perfect analogy.  Perhaps  the most well known and referenced  clip from Plato's Republic is the Cave Allegory.  It strikes me as the perfect explanation for today's cloistered left.  From Wiki:

"Plato has Socrates describe a gathering of people who have lived chained to the wall of a cave all of their lives, facing a blank wall. The people watch shadows projected on the wall by things passing in front of a fire behind them, and begin to ascribe names to these shadows. According to Plato's Socrates, the shadows are as close as the prisoners get to viewing reality."

When one of the chained is released into the real world, he is astounded.  When he goes back to the cave to tell his brethren that everything they've learned from the shadows is false, they would kill him if they could for questioning what they learned in Professor José Ángel Gutiérrez's classroom.
