FOR SALE!

                    Boys Will Have Toys

I've been calling around with zero luck on selling my used PC games.  I think they are pretty darned good, but no one will take them.  Partly because they are for PC, not a console.

I have Civilization 3, European Air War, Operational Art of War, Baldur's Gate, Rome-Total War, World of Warcraft expansion kit Wrath of the Lich King, Worlld Series of Poker Battle For The Bracelets, Falcon 4 Allied Force.

I also have another Dungeons and Dragons, rules for fantastic medievel wargames campaigns, playable with paper and pencil and miniature figures, 3 volume set, from TSR.  Written by Gygax and Arneson.  I've had this for 40 years!  No, it isn't a computer game, but rules.  I once knew Gary Gygax.

Anyway, if you want anything, make an offer.

Thanks.Skoonj (dhousman@embarqmail.com)

Taste of Asia Deivered

Sweet deal

You know how you can pass someone and her (or his if you're ...) pheromones are so powerfully attractive that you are drawn like a magnet?  It's natures way of helping people mate.  Anyway, a few weeks ago I saw this "Taste of Asia" sweet chili sauce while shopping.

To my knowledge I have never had sweet chili sauce before, but there was such a powerful, what?  "flavomone?" transmitted that—I am not making this up—that I wanted to uncap a bottle and drink it on the spot.  Bad form, especially when other shoppers are around, so I bought it.  As soon as I got home I did just that; uncapped and swigged.

I have never done anything like that before, and guess what?  It is freaking wonderful.  I started putting it on everything, so in quick order was running out.  Anyway, this is what I wanted to tell you.

I buy a lot of stuff, especially bulky, heavy stuff like 50 pound bags of flour, and paper towels, etc., from Walmart.  I mean, the prices range from great to competitive
—and there is no tax, and no shipping charge on orders on $50.  I ordered a six pack of this stuff last Friday, along with a crap load of other stuff.

Yesterday Fed Ex pulled up at 9AM and left a box on my doorstep.  It was a partial delivery of the Sweet Chili Sauce. That's all.  Now, this stuff cost me maybe $2.59/bottle, so this was about a $15.50 order.  Delivered by Fed-X. Today Fed-X came again and dropped another partial delivery; one can Gold Bond powder spray, and two Almay hypo-allergenic deodorants.  More to come.

Amazing.

Good and Free = Great

Joyful Things

Res Ipsa Loquitor

Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl is a slave narrative that was published in 1861 by Harriet Ann Jacobs, using the pen name "Linda Brent." The book is an in-depth chronological account of Jacobs's life as a slave, and the decisions and choices she made to gain freedom for herself and her children. It addresses the struggles and sexual abuse that young women slaves faced on the plantations, and how these struggles were harsher than what men suffered as slaves. The book is considered sentimental and written to provoke an emotional response and sympathy from the reader toward slavery in general and slave women in particular for their struggles[citation needed], with rape, the pressure to have sex at an early age, the selling of their children, and the treatment of female slaves by their mistresses.

Amazon has a ton of books that Prime members can get for free for use on iPad or any computer, actually.  I just read Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl  (which Wikipedia excerpt appears above).  What is compelling about it is the mind boggling literary gift  Harriet Jacobs had.  I mean, she was self taught to read by her grandmother, and her  depictions of Southern life and customs  during the early 19th century are riveting, at least I found them so.  All of the characters are real, and are identified in the Wikipedia narrative.

While I was reading Slave Girls, I was also reading
Res Ipsa Loquitor

Also free in any number of formats.  Elegantly writ by a participant in the battle, and just the  first of  several short stories.  Free is good.  Good and Free is great.

>Baseball be berry berry good to me

Baseball be berry berry good to me, but ... (Chico Escuela)
Travel is via luxury motor coach, and in each city, you'll stay at a three- or four-star Marriott Hotel. You'll also have a chance to visit baseball-oriented attractions like the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. Buy two vouchers and take Dad for the Father's Day gift of a lifetime. [Full]

That's a scary thought.Travel about the country on a luxury motor coach If my kids were still in grade school,  I might have it in me.  But then they couldn't be shelling out $3500, could they?  As it is,even  flying anywhere is more hassle than I'm willing to endure.  And hey, does Detroit have a Marriott?  With windows?  Your mileage may differ.
