Schlong Island

My glass is full

Even on the day before the day before Christmas the New York Times is whining [In Shirt-Sleeve Holiday Season, Overcoats Linger on the Racks] about, of all things, the slow sale of fur coats because of global warming.

Retailers are calling it the Coat Crisis of 2006, a fashion fiasco measured in racks of unsold fur-lined shearlings at Saks Fifth Avenue and down puffer jackets at Bloomingdale’s.

Balmy temperatures on the East Coast, with average highs this holiday season 15 degrees warmer than last year, have been disastrous for sales of all kinds of cold-weather clothing, from cashmere caps to wool scarves.

<snip>

The real worry is that this holiday season will not be an anomaly. Retailers and clothing designers are generally the last to weigh in on scientific debates, but some fear that they are seeing hints of global warming.

Bring it on baby.  Here's how I see it; what's bad for New York's furriers is great for me.  If things go well, my home in a squalid little Maryland suburb will soon be an island paradise.  I'm having a nude beach too.

Merry Christmas.

So why isn't PETA making headlines cheering over the slow sales and taking credit for it? I guess now they'll bitch and moan even more that killing those animals for their fur was senseless!

Seems like the last year we had a warm winter -- 1998/99? there were some awesome sales in February on ski gear. I could use a new parka and maybe skis too!
