New York Times Legacy

If it's not one thing it's
another, and
another, and ... .

M r. DeLay, the Texas Republican who had been the House majority leader, crowed that he had been “found innocent.” But many of Mr. DeLay’s actions remain legal only because lawmakers have chosen not to criminalize them.
I pulled this DeLay editorial Saturday night,  with thoughts of performing surgery on it.  There was Hillary Clinton and "The Largest Election Law Fraud in History.  There was massive illegal fund-raising by the Clinton-Gore 2006 campaign that, somehow?, generated hearings about the need for campaign finance laws. There was ... !  Swear to god, I have more than 81,000 example like this in my head, but getting links to them was overwhelming, so it sat, simmering.

Then this morning I read Dean: If Dems Lose, It's Obama's Fault

Obama himself has said that he would save the Democrats from a 1994-style wipeout. "Well, the big difference here and in ’94 was you’ve got me," Obama said, according to Democratic representative Marion Berry. But that was back in January. Dean's comments now are contrary to current spin of Obama's allies that the economy will determine the outcome of the election.

Okay, unrelated, but that triggered memories of Howard Dean from January, 2006

HOWARD DEAN  ''There's not one shred of evidence that any Democrat, A, knew that he was getting a contribution from Jack Abramoff and, B, did anything in exchange for it. And that's why this is a Republican finance scandal and not some sort of bipartisan scandal. ... ''

CHRIS WALLACE  '' So if we find ... that there were some Democrats who wrote letters on behalf of some of the Indian tribes that Abramoff represented, then what do you say, sir?''

DEAN:'' That's a big problem, and those Democrats are in trouble, and they should be in trouble.'' -- Transcript: Dem Chairman Howard Dean on 'FNS'

Harry Reid receives wampum award from Jack Abramoff client.

When Dean discovered that Harry Reid received more than $66,000 in Abramoff-related donations, Abramoff stopped being mentioned. See what I mean?  It goes on and on,  to the point where I just can't deal with it.

Always remember: Whatever evils Dems accuse others of doing, it's exactly what the Dems are doing at that time, and have been doing for a while, maybe all their lives.

A lot of things that aren't illegal aren't illegal because they aren't illegal.

That's really quite profound.
