Years ago I lived at a place that had a roofless porch exposed to the snow and ice of Winter and the only way to clean it off was using salt.
Well, of course the salt impregnated the wood and in the warm weather the little bushy tailed rats discovered this necessary mineral and tasty treat and commenced to eat the porch, starting with the upright post support for the guard rail.
Eat the porch?.... Yes,absolutely. Eating the porch.
I figure after I moved away some new tennants body was found three flights down by the garbage cans, surrounded by giggling vermin. -
