The Combine

Why the Left Needs Its Own Tea Party

The American left needs its own Tea Party movement. Ordinary Americans with leftist values need to launch an insurgency against the Democratic establishment just as the Tea Party has launched one against the Republican establishment.

The Founders well knew that the primary political dynamic in any free society was never faction against faction but the people versus the state. We have forgotten this essential insight at the heart of American governance. Distracted by the struggle of left versus right, we have let a political class form that serves no faction but itself. It is The Combine.  [

"Ordinary Americans with leftist values..." ????
More like ANTI-values.

Actually, the point is quite clear. NYTimes recently posted an Op Ed saying that (paraphrase) "America needs another party as long as it is not just masquerading as one of the existing parties." Apparently this was a dig at the Tea Party.

What would this new leftist party be called? The Marijuana Party? And why not. Eventually, I think the Marijuana Party might share more values in common with the Tea Party than one might at first imagine...

OTOH - The left is a conglomerate of crazy people and which part would this new anti-party be? There are leftists who want government out of their lives and leftists who want the government to kill all enemies of the state.

One way or the other, a new leftist party would go a long way toward fragmenting the left - a good thing.

"Leftist values" IS the state.
(e.g. the Cult of the State per Jonah Goldberg's "Liberal Fascism")

Sure, it is already out there. Various as a matter of fact, Code Pink, Communist Party, etc

The problem is that the left isnt main stream so it therefore isn't populist or have the numbers to do what the Tea Party is doing.

Left Ideals are not a majority in this country. They are just the loudest and the left think that volume is a majority.

I haven't noticed a great deal of difference between the two major political parties in some time. They're both crooked and self serving. If you support one direction, you lose in the other. And vice versa. It's like a ractchet effect conspiracy. The Libertarians seened to offer a genuine alternative. And they were making inroads in my state until we adopted a "top two primary system". That seemed to freeze out the Libs and cement the stranglehold by the dim witted and reprobates. My wish would be to retire 99% of elected officals and bureaucrats by the fastest and most effective means possible. Maybe enact term limits? Please Rodger, can you help me with this dream? I know, how about a "write in campaign"? TRKOF for president! And the rest of the barn army on capital hill. Bring rope.
