Democrats and the First Amendment

Whew!

Rep. Robert Brady (D-Pa.) reportedly plans to introduce legislation that would make it a federal crime to use language or symbols that could be perceived as threatening or inciting violence against a federal official or member of Congress.
Lucky for me that flag-burning, anti-religion, Karl Marx devotee assassin who killed a Bush appointed judge and a little girl didn't use a guillotine. Else Brady would be filling that loop-hole in the First Amendment too.  As it it, let's relive a golden moment that's brought so much happiness to so many for so many years now.

And what will be the specific Constitutional justification for this legislation? Rules for the 112th Congress require that a specific Constiutional reference be included with all legislation submitted for consideration.

I'll be watching with great interest.

Not so much. Resolution was defeated. By the Republicans. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss. Democrats have no souls, Republicans have no spines.

"...could be perceived as..."

wow. That's one helluva phrase.

"could be perceived as..." by whom?
a random CircleD?
a schizophrenic?
a leprechaun?
a statist bureaucrat drone like Brady?

Oughta be some sort of repercussion for a statement like that...
a nice cream pie?
a national moment of Point 'n' Laugh?
a targeting for removal from office?

e-C, I remember Dan Rostenkowsi being so shocked at being confronted by geezers angry over his legislation that raised their Medicare co-pay by 25¢, or something, that he had it repealed. Democrats are not used to being criticized.
We witnessed their shock and abject horror when set upon at townhall meetings, by constituents angry about Obamunism. Their answer of course wasn't that people hated proposed Obama legislation; it was right-wing extremists were crashing their meetings. They were scared to death by the realization that people could feel so strongly about something that they'd raise fists and fight back. So, after this last election, when it became manifestly clear that voters hated their guts, and now punctuated by - OMFG - one of them getting shot ... !
These are people who routinely disregard the Constitution when it suits them, and nothing suits them more than saving their own sorry asses from the rabble. I love it. I think I'm going to do a poll on whether thay have reason to worry.
