He was also enamored of Selma, a sleepy river town he likens to “an inland Charleston or Savannah.” After a few visits, he bought the Harmony Club for just under $100,000, paid in full, and moved in three months later, on Jan. 1, 2000.  [Slide Show]

Over the weekend I watched a Mecum car auction where a 1962 Bentley in cherry condition could not meet the $8500 reserve.  Twenty-five years ago I'd have been all over both of these, given the chance.
