The Pentagon Song

I worked for a guy, quite brilliant, who early on was assigned to the Pentagon doing weapons R&D. He said, "one day it struck me. As hard as we worked to prove our project viable and get it funded, the unit across the hall was working just as hard to have it killed."

Very witty, those Air Force guys are smart. I particularly loved the budget part. Row well, and live.

Casca, the only thought the rowing scene brought to mind was "Oh, crap. He wants to go water-skiing again."

Decades ago I told a hippy who was blotivating about wishing the Pentagon was destroyed that he really, really, didn't want that. There was a reason that it was a pentagon shape was to contain the forces of destruction, evil, and mind numbing boredom and that if you broke even one wall of it you might find yourself possesed and working in a fast food resturant serving pork ribs in downtown Cairo.

Casca,
Having worn that blue c*nt-cap with the silver oak leaf on both the Air Staff & Joint Staff there, I can testify to the rowing scene (amen, brother, tell it! tell it!) ... except not everybody is in sync, some have different-length oars, some sit facing the other way, and as rickn8or says, every once in a while, somebody wants to go water skiing.

My uncle was a Petty Officer in the Pentagon. One day he was stopped by an Air Force officer that said "Hey Sergeant" Uncle just kept on walking. "Hey Sergeant I'm talking to you". Begging your pardon sir but I'm a Petty Officer First Class in the US Navy. "Yeah, if you were in the Air Force you'd be a Sergeant" Begging your pardon again sir, if I was in the Air Force I'd be a Bird Colonel.

Anon,
*heh* Truer words ...
I was at the range yesterday admiring the hand-built motorcycle of a feller shootin' an M1A, as I was. I noticed his FtBragg base decal with a USMC CmdSgtMaj sticker on it and said, "Dang, son, if we were in uniform, reckon I'd have to salute you."

Doug, while the Marine Corps has SMag's at most commands, Command Sgt Major is doggie talk. I'm reminded of the question of the difference between a Sgt Maj, and a Master Gunnery Sgt... a Master Gunny knows how to do something.

^Casca,
Yeah, just checked. SgtMaj it was (with the star).
That's what I get for listenin' to a Marine.
No, that's not quite right. I'll always listen to one.
Should'a said, "believin'."
