What a load of horsehockey.

Apple offers free software. QuickTime, iTunes, and Darwin, to name a few.

I've installed plenty of apps from the web. I have no idea how he got that notion.

I've shared lots of music and books. You can even share copyrighted ones over a local network.

I don't know if they can disable apps & media, but it's never happened to me.

Microsoft caved because of big Federal and EU lawsuits. They were making too much money so the Feds and EU got jealous.

Microsoft is building in an app store with Windows8, so get ready for even more Draconian policies....

Funny... Kindle was the first device I heard about sneakily 'removing' boughten items from folks' devices...
