White House "Misspoke"

In Newspeak ...

Newspeak
The White House backed away Monday evening from key details in its narrative about the raid that killed Osama bin Laden, including claims by senior U.S. officials that the Al Qaeda leader had a weapon and may have fired it during a gun battle with U.S. forces.

Officials also retreated from claims that one of bin Laden’s wives was killed in the raid and that bin Laden was using her as a human shield before she was shot by U.S. forces. [Politico]

Ditch the newspeak and the story reads "White House Lies Again."  Starting with Oceana President Obama's opening sentence re Osama's death,  "Under my direction ...,"  there's just too much smell surrounding the whole op.

This thing seems to be falling apart. There are real problems with the scenario we've been handed. First there were just a few people there, and all were killed but a couple of wounded women. At bin Laden's secret compound? There should have been a heck of a lot more people there. Then we were told of 22 dead of captured. Then none were captured. We were told OBL's wife was used as a human shield. Then she wasn't. We were told he was shot when he wouldn't surrender, and now that he wasn't even armed (so we couldn't have just grabbed him???). Middle of the night, military academy next door, and no response from them? Only 40 minutes? What about money he was said to have there?

Today we are told the White House was given the intel far earlier than previously stated, and any action was turned down. I want to know more about this, as it seems to make Obama far less the decisive leader than what he tried to tell us Sunday night.

And why is it the White House and military keep coming up with contradictory versions of events? I have questions, but few answers.

To give the ego in chief credit where it is due, he did sign off on it, thus letting it happen. The Clintons couldn't muscle up the intestinal fortitude for even that. This is probably the high-water mark of his Presidency. He'll go down in history as having set the Middle-East ablaze, thus sowing the wind.

Maybe he was holding her in front of him, but wasn't using her as a shield (wink, wink).
Would explain why there'a no photos released....

If you look at where he was living there is no way things could have gone down the way the WH would have you believe. Pakistan gave OBL to the US - the question is why?

Anon, I also have suspicions in that direction. I wonder if he was even alive when we got there. Exterior photos of the compound show no damage at all. That was the scene of a 40 minute firefight?

Yes, why. Bin Laden was no longer of use to Pakistan, whether because of poor health, actual death, mental problems, whatever.

Remember about a year ago, reliable sources told us of the capture of Mullah Omar. Later it was said ISI had him under house arrest. Since then, we hear nothing. Just another set of questions.
