Coulter Schools Hysterical Republicans on Debt

Coulter Schools Hysterical Republicans on Debt

But now, Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., has checkmated the Democrats. He has proposed a bill that will allow Obama to raise the debt ceiling three times, up to $2.4 trillion, over the next 18 months, but only provided Obama proposes equivalent cuts in spending each time.

Finally, the Democrats will be forced to pony up spending cuts -- or default on the debt and crash the economy.

Contrary to some hysterical Republicans, McConnell's bill does not forfeit any of Congress' authority: The House and Senate will still have to decide whether to accept Obama's proposed cuts when they write their appropriations bills. [Full]

Ouch.  Well,  Ann has earned— many times over,  the right to be in possible error, as she is  in this hysterical person's eyes,  without loss of any gravitas or affection on my part.  The problem the Hysterical Republicans have with those spending cuts is they would be debated under normal procedures, with no guarantee they ever come to a final vote.  The problem I have is that I remember Ronald Reagan falling into that very trap.  Ann also, sigh, writes in her article "Ask the next president of the United States, New Jersey's Gov. Chris Christie."  Somewhere soon she will,  I hope,  reconcile his belief in man caused climate change and gun control with her recorded Gesamtkunstwerk.  I will  hope to be transformed by it, but I ain't going to just go legs up.

It's OK Rodger. In the darkest night, when all you can see is the ranger eyes on the back of my helmet, be confident that I know whence I am going.

What? You want Chris Christie too?

I agree on Ann's human frailties and on not wanting Chris Christie.

I also remember well that RWR (bows head) was tricked in the passage of the Tax Equity and Fiscal Responsiblity Act of 1982, which raised taxes on the promise of discretionary spending cuts which never happened.

As John Belushi said so poignantly, "You f####d up, you trusted us."

At least when Reagan let himself be hoodwinked it was for three dollars of spending reductions for each dollar in increased taxes. McConnell only requires one for one. Reagan was buying much more vaporware, and still got snookered. McConnell is selling out one for one.

Let Obama sweat Ramadan. Let him make the cuts. Let the people see if he stops Socialist Security checks, military pay, debt service, and so on. He need not stop anything, since government income will match outgo without the increase for a while. Lets just see where he cuts. Only when he does that should Republicans lend him a lifeline, in exchange for real spending reductions.

I disagree with Coulter on this, in addition to her support of Christie.

IMO, anyone that fails to see the illogic in gun control and AGW is unqualified to make decisions involving the public.

Yep ... another sucker bet.

Pass a budget, and let the Dems take the blame for voting it down.

Then pass it again, and again, and let them take the blame again and again.

Keep doing this, in order to train the moochers and looters to blame Democrats for not getting there goodies.

The House has already passed a budget. Harry Reid doesn't want a budget. Reconcile those two things. Show all work.

The idea at work, I believe, is to get Teh Wun to reveal something, anything, that will put his name on a piece of paper allowing that cuts must be made. He has, so far, rubber numbers that are not the same from minute to minute, per Boehner on FNC last night. He will not present his proposal, and wants the Congress to roll over, and accept higher taxes with no cuts. AND he thinks he can get that accepted by the public as a goal.
"I'll take it to the people"

Do that. You are so far out of touch that maybe the reaction will bring a little thought into your head of mush.
