The sheer genius of the Internet is there is no administrative function responsible for the whole shooting match. Ergo, there is always a simple explanation for poor performance. "Everything is 'working fine' here. Your problem is probably somewhere else."
Do not expect Verizon to accept responsilibity.

Yeah, 21st-Century, first-world problems can be a real b*tch.

You're probably infected with some miserable little bit of malware.

I can tell almost to the minute when a holiday shift-change hits and they leave the interns running the consoles at my cable/internet provider...

Verizon's routers and hardware is probably stretched to its limits. They will only upgrade or buy more hardware if forced hard enough to make someone slap the beancounters mouths shut.

Duplicate the problem on a different PC.

Then try not using Verizon's DNS server ( openDNS is a good one ).

If that fails, then you probably need to get away from Verizon's routers. Find an ISP in your area that offers DSL service ... they will use Verizon's lines, but their own routers and servers.

A third party will also fix problems promptly, because you can always switch back to Verizon.

verizon sent a new router - will be here tomorrow. TV feckeed up too. Arghhhh.

Verizon will show their appreciation by doing everything they can to improve your service....not.

I'm surprised you didn't need an interpreter to speak with a representative. Did you have your attorney complete the service call?

Actually I rate Verizon's customer service as one of the, perhaps even the best I've ever dealt with. So, to use a Gordon Ramsey analogy, Verizon's front of house staff far surpasses the kitchen's. And wouldn't you just know it -- right now everything is working perfectly, and at top speed! So, I'll get a new router and it shan't have been necessary to send? Maybe.

Someone got of their ass and fixed the problem at their head end.

The new router is not needed. Problem was obviously not on your side.

We had similar probs with Qwest, only we couldn't get them to fix them. Went to aracnet's DSL service in Hillsboro ... same DSL line, but better head end equipment.
