Oh Ann ... .

I see Annie's underpants
there's a soiled spot!

I see Annie's underpants

I love Ann Coulter because she's been a pit bull in a ring of go along-get along, weak spined, Republican leaning media pussies.   True, more and more I've found myself occupying polar opposite positions on strategy, but that's okay. With the exception of Obama's COLB (where she presented none), Ann bolsters her positions with sound and reasoned argument.   But, I am more than a bit surprised by tactics  used in  her attack on Newt this week.  I'm disappointed, actually.

(During the House ethics investigation of Gingrich, he produced notes in which he reminds himself to "allow expression of warm/smiling/softer side.")

After Gingrich had been speaker for a brief two years, the Republican House voted 395-28 to reprimand him and fine him $300,000 for ethics violations.

(Sen. Bob Dole loaned Gingrich the money in what was called the first instance of an airbag being saved by a person.)

That ethics committee ruling was another case of Republicans, led by Rep. Jennifer Dunn (R WA). bowing to media pressure, and finding Newt guilty of a trumped up Democrat charge involving taxes and his television history course.  He was later found innocent of the charges by the IRS, a fact that to this day has gone unreported by the airwaves media.

To put a finer point on the era's :Ethics Committee conduct, Dick Gerhardt was simultaneously being investigated for what amounted to real estate fraud and tax evasion.  He was cited for lying to the committee three times, but let of f with a slap on the wrist.  Ann Coulter is aware of these facts, but chose to take the low road. It wasn't necessary, as her other insights attest (IMO).  I too would rather have Romney or whats-his-name over Newt, but criminal behavior is not one of Newt's weaknesses.

Anniepantie works for the GOP about 99% of the time. If something or someone does't have that GOP stamp of approval sooner or later Annie is going to attack. Fox News too.

By the way, I'm not saying that in general she's wrong about Noots.

Thanks for bringing back an updated version of your old logo picture.

Ann has trouble with Newt being conservative enough and yet she supports Christie, a decent man of the big to middling government school. Ann should stop attacking Republicans and let the primaries sort out the field.

She's an entertainer whose shtick is sarcastic political commentary from a right-wing perspective. Basically she's a Bill Maher on the other extreme of the spectrum with a quicker mind and far better vocabulary.

Her material depends on ever-increasing sensationalism: each column has to be sassier, harsher, dicier than the last . . . just as action movies have to have faster chases, bigger explosions, and higher body counts than all that went before or they won't pass the audience's "So What?" test.

To me, Coulter doesn't do the conservative side of the fence any good, although I do tend to agree with much of what she says and admire her skill in crafting her written commentaries. In this particular case, she's put several rounds in the black on Gingrich, who is indeed an abrasive flibbertigibbet whose assessment of his own intelligence is seriously overexaggerated and whose reliability is highly suspect.

In fact, the most truly conservative of the entire lot is Bachmann. Everybody knows Romney is Obama Lite and Paul has good ideas and good intentions but has a few shorted capacitors and blown fuses. Gingrich has more than enough time before November to douse himself with snark and immolate his chubbiness on the altar of self-worship.

Worst situation is a rupture in the voting block caused by some idiot making an annoying third-party run or mutual self-destruction resulting in widespread conservative apathy and a second obamanation.

Dittos to bringing back a previous header that included your bride.

So, Queen Ann has fallen to Princess level, or perhaps even Duchess?
She certainly seems to have become more blue blooded than the double edged sword of yesterday. IMO.

Gerard brings us one of the funnier of the Downfall mashups. Looks like Adolph and Anne are on the same side this time.

Ann is good people regardless of who pays her bills, Noot too, I think. The real problem here is that the Tea Party isn't bringing the big guns, lack of funding I'd say so it's really our fault. You can't tell me that there isn't a gun carrying, Christian, American Nationalist out there with Perry's looks, Noots brains, Ann's fire and Sarah's heart that will put us over the top for the next 20 years.

I know HE is out there. We'd better find him because it's becoming clearer by the day that ballots just ain't cutt'n it.

He's not a newt, he's a chameleon.

Politics is a whore's business, and Annie is working her corner. Anyone who can be bought, has been by the Romney camp.

All jokes about him looking like a sausage, and being entirely charm free, he is a repulsive person, and he would lose 57 states to Obama.

Yo I-Right-I,
"You can't tell me that there isn't a gun carrying, Christian, American Nationalist out there with Perry's looks, Noots brains, Ann's fire and Sarah's heart". Sounds like you're writing TRKoF's bio. You ginning up to become the Barn Army press agent?

Before taking too big a whack at Gingrich and his past "liberalism", you might want to read an account from the inside. His chief spokesman was Tony Blankley, and he has written a column on the issue today at TownHall.com. There are real considerations when you view the Gingrich record, and it includes the best methods of handling a precarious majority to get what you want most of the time. Tony's description of Gingrich having to give to the northeastern liberal Republicans in order to push the conservative agenda is right on the mark. When deciding who to put in the White House, you might want to consider these qualities. I worked with Tony Blankley when we were on the staff of a conservative California Republican, and we've been friends a long time. He knows what he's talking about. Here is the link: http://townhall.com/columnists/tonyblankley/2011/...

Nope, way too public for my radio good looks.

We had Noot when he first threw in his hat.
Now that the right, and in my case, the GOA, are against him, we are looking at a whore. Any way that a sound bite might work, he's all for it.
When he was Speaker he stifled good bills and pushed shit, and hopes the base [silent majority] forgot.
I will either write in your name or my nonunion gardener.

I used to look forward to Ann's weekly column. Not so much anymore and this one is a good example of why. I am well aware of Newt's warts and I don't need Ann twisting the facts and jumping on the Get-Newt bandwagon to point them out to me. Fact is, I'd still take Newt twice any day of the week over Obama.

If she has such a hard-on for Romney, why doesn't she come up with some reasons why I should vote for him? Mitt sure hasn't. In all these debates, all I see out of Romney is him standing there playing did-not-did-too with the other contestants.

I usually agree with Ann but on this topic I emphatically think she's way out in left field! She actually called Romney a CONSERVATIVE on some Fox News show! Give me a break! Now Huntsman is a conservative, Bachmann (who I do not like at all) is definitely a conservative but Romney? Hell to the no!

I appreciate the info. It makes a difference.

And Newt is still a newt.

And before Romney, she lusted after Chris Christie.

She is an Up East Republican (think: George Pataki, Chris Shays, John Sununu, etc.).
