I am very dizzy - posting just in vase

TEXT

  • Colorado allows people to “possess a handgun in a dwelling, place of business, or automobile.” But they cannot “carry the weapon concealed while transporting it into your home, business, hotel room, etc.”
  • Colorado allows a person to carry a firearm in a vehicle, loaded or unloaded, if its use is for lawfully protecting that person’s property or another person’s property.
  • Concealed weapons permits can be obtained in the county in which a person lives.
  • Colorado prohibits gun registration.
I started to compile this around noon, but was distracted by necessary chores so by now this is all old hat.  I heard Georrge Sthphoupoulus say the perp was a tea party member and dizzy

Whoops Brian Ross was the clown that told Stephy that the Suspect was Tea Party. Wrong, very wrong, and Ross has since apologized. He got the wrong Jim Holmes off of a Tea Party website. It turns out Jim Holmes is fairly common name. The Jim Holmes he got was around 60 years old and had to turn his telephone off. Depending on how large you draw the radius it turned out there were 91 to a 106 Jim Holmes in the Aurora area.

I'll let that stand, but there for a moment I thought I was going to pass out. I have no idea why. Still a tad dizzy. Took a chug of Triple Sec - the closest bottle in the cabinet. Is this live blogging, or what?

Theaters there are posted: No Fiirearms Allowed. I am still not clear if this is state law, theater chain policy, or policy of that theater. Unless it is actually law, we will see a hell of a lawsuit.

No guns is theater chain policy. Some parts of Aurora are really nice, others not so much. My daughter works about 2 minutes from the theater and describes the neighborhood as in the "not so much" category. The sign is mostly to discourage the locals from settling disagreements inside.

The lesson to be learned here is that stuff like this happens not because someone had a gun, but because only one someone had a gun.

The Media is endlessly annoyed that they have not been able to pin any of the atrocities in recent years on the Tea Party. Every time, before much is known, at least one of them always gleefully attributes these crimes to a Tea Party member. Then these lazy slobs jump all over it and spread it all over the airwaves. When it turns out to be based entirely on their own wishful thinking (fake but accurate), they mumble a very brief retraction and pretend that they never said anything at all.
...but there is no bias involved at all.

The proper spelling is "George Staphylococcus". Or just "Staphy" for short. Eponymy, eh?

Brian Ross was fired for yelling "fire " in the theater, or rumor mongering istead of reporting, or sued for libel, right? No.
Oh crap, must have been a nice dream.
We're not talking about a bad call at the kiddie soccer game, but a call that could have gotten the poor Tea Party Holmes killed. Brian Ross is a biased POS who deserves a good beat down from the guy he wrongly harassed, and then a libel suit from the Tea Party.

If it's breaking news reported or commented on by the mainstream media, I automatically assume its either wrong, distorted or an outright fabrication altogether. The don't jump the shark, they ride the sumbitch bareback.

One idly wonder if their mothers know what they do for a living.

I am definitely not an authority on the subject, but I took a carry and conceal course in Aurora (by coincidence) about 6 months ago. I am not the proud owner of a Douglas County colorado Concealed Handgun Permit, and a 9mm DiamondBack (which, after this incident, I have promised myself that I will start carrying regularly). Anyway: I seem to recall that the instructor said that anything other than State of Federal Law (ie: no handguns in public buildings, etc...) is not compulsive or punishable. In other words, a movie chain stating their "policy" is just that.....but not punishable or enforceable on the movie goer.... nor can he/she be denied service or access so long as the weapon is properly concealed.

I am not the definitive authority on this.... but this is was a think I recall

Read about the Doctrine of competing harms. I have ignored those signs since I was 15, they will get you killed.

You can still be trespassed. If you don't leave, you are trespassing while armed, a felony in most states.

Carry anyway. If someone notices, and the proprietor asks you to leave, then leave.
