There are no subtleties with Obama

Of Tyrants & Tyranny

"When governments fear the people there is liberty. When the people fear the government there is tyranny."
— Thomas Jefferson (attributed to Jefferson, by his contemporaries)

"The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government."

— Thomas Jefferson (attributed to Jefferson, by his contemporaries)

"... rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our own will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law,' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the right of an individual"
— Thomas Jefferson (Letter to Isaac H. Tiffany - 1819)

“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive.”
— C.S. Lewis

“Tyrants have always some slight shade of virtue; they support the laws before destroying them”
— Voltaire

“The worst form of tyranny the world has ever known the tyranny of the weak over the strong. It is the only tyranny that lasts.”

—  Oscar Wilde quotes

“When the tyrant has disposed of foreign enemies by conquest or treaty and there is nothing to fear from them, then he is always stirring up some war or other, in order that the people may require a leader.”
— Plato

“The tyranny of a prince in an oligarchy is not so dangerous to the public welfare as the apathy of a citizen in a democracy”

 — Charles de Montesquieu

And, in rebuttal (drumroll)

"Reject voices that warn of government tyranny"
President Barack (nee Barry) Obama Soetoro; commencement address to the graduating class of The Ohio State University

If Obama's presidency was a play, after the start of the second act, half the audience left and those left debated whether to ask for their money back.

The man is finished. From this point on, he'll hide from his responsibility, act as though he cares and wish for a long afternoon of playing video games.

Why does he need to be subtle? No matter what he does, someone covers his ass, and the leftists applaud his actions. He makes jokes about it.

It's hard to get more in-yer-face than that.

That's not a crappy post! May I amplify your point with this gem?

"The wisest thing in the world is to cry out before you are hurt. It is no good to cry out after you are hurt; especially after you are mortally hurt. People talk about the impatience of the populace; but sound historians know that most tyrannies have been possible because men moved too late. It is often essential to resist a tyranny before it exists." ~G. K. Chesterton

“Did you really think that we want those laws to be observed?” said Dr. Ferris. “We want them broken. You’d better get it straight that it’s not a bunch of boy scouts you’re up against – then you’ll know that this is not the age for beautiful gestures. We’re after power and we mean it. You fellows were pikers, but we know the real trick, and you’d better get wise to it.

There’s no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals.

Well, when there aren’t enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What’s there in that for anyone?

But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced nor objectively interpreted – and you create a nation of law-breakers – and then you cash in on guilt. Now, that’s the system, Mr. Rearden, that’s the game, and once you understand it, you’ll be much easier to deal with.”

~ Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged
