I posit monkeys came from us, this would explain why we have a populace that tends to produce Democrats.

My gut feeling is that we didn't come from monkeys; monkeys is where we're going.
With moslems leading the way of course. - 4/16/14, 11:50 AM

My answer to this has always been, "is evolution finite?"
As we were evolving FROM monkeys, something else was evolving INTO monkeys.
That's my thought anyway.
Sorry. I'm not feeling very amusing today. - 4/16/14, 12:17 PM

I always wonder why the people that believe the strongest in evolution are the same ones trying to stop it.

Hope you're kiddin', Rodge.
Real answer: monkeys, apes, and humans evolved from a common ancestor which no longer exists.
Individuals do not evolve from one species into another during their lifetimes. Certainly not all monkeys were expected to evolve into apes, then into humans.
One individual descendant's small genetic variation might become dominant in an isolated breeding population; and after many generations, differences may accumulate and become significant enough to be considered a separate species.
Ancestral species do not have to go extinct, but they might, and they might also produce other descendant species — hence, the tree/bush branching diagram of evolution. - 4/16/14, 12:52 PM

Also, ain't nuthin' that says evolution has to produce actual, you know, progress.

I reject Darwin's evolution; by the evidence (or lack of). To each his own however.
