Apple People Here A few weeks ago I mistakenly reported that my new best television series ever, RAKE, had been discontinued.  Only moments after posting it (but disinclined to correct) I discovered that what was canceled was the American version (which are almost always crap); the original Aussie series is in its 4th season I believe.  I watch on NetFlix, but Amazon just announced it will be showing all the episodes. The headlined is Aussie  Cleaver Greene, a brilliant but self-destructive, alcoholic and philandering criminal defense barrister. In another life he's Sterling Archer.  Greene holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of New South Wales. The character is loosely based on Sydney's most colorful barrister and author Charles Waterstreet.. Here are a few quotes to give you a flavor.  "Rake: R vs Murray (#1.1)" (2010) Cleaver Greene: This economic climate is turning every decent bender in this town into a reptile. First my bookie, now my brothel keeper. 12,000 years I've been coming to this place. You think I would have accrued some frequent fucker points by now.  Cleaver Greene: [after reading out Byron's "She walks in beauty, like the night"] Bugger me, he was good.  Fuzz Greene: Yeah, but what use is it?  Cleaver Greene: What do you mean "What use is it"? It's poetry, you knucklehead. It has only one use, and that's pulling chicks.  "Rake: R vs Lorton (#1.4)" (2010) Cleaver Greene: You know what my first act will be when I run this country?  Melissa Partridge: Make threesomes compulsory?  Cleaver Greene: Okay... uhhh... my second act will be to abolish five day weather forecasts and publicly execute those who give them.  "Rake: R vs Mohammed (#2.1)" (2012) Cleaver Greene: You want the truth? Right wing chicks are hot. Much hotter than left wing chicks, and you know why that is? Because right wing chicks are aggressively carnivorous, self reliant Ayn Rand accolytes who understand the value of the moment. They get that sex is something in and of itself beholden to nothing and no-one and as a consequence of that understanding they're less inhibited and therefore hornier. Left wing chicks on the other hand, they're vegans who want a holistic experience. They're all about context. They talk about an orgasm like it's a pet spaniel, and so consequently the moment's ruined and this, Mr Clown, is the real reason why the left has carked it., because the right is constantly procreating while the left is grooming a dead dog.  Clown: My mother was a communist.  Cleaver Greene: Oh so you're adopted?
