LOL, I have "Happy Anniversary" gift cards to hand out to the West Coast employees tomorrow with much the same sentiment. Still, better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.

13 Oct 1775 . . . Continental Congress authorized purchase of two armed ships to intercept arms shipments to the British military in America.

This was the de facto origin of what became the US Navy after the Constitution was ratified in 1789 and Washington created a permanent Navy to handle pirates interfering with US interests.
