Really.  I've found myself gripping chair arms during most of these.

Great War Diaries (Episode 1 BBC Documentary 2014)
Based on letters and journals, many of which have never been published before, this tells the story of 1914-18 solely through the eyes of those who lived through it. Bringing together 25 broadcasters from around the world, this is television's global event for the centennial of World War I.

Our World War
The series makes use of modern film techniques like fixed, body-mounted cameras and overhead battle scene animations, alongside a modern soundtrack featuring artists such as PJ Harvey, to attract a new audience. While some reviewers described this as "powerful"[1] and "beautiful",[2] others felt it trivialised the subject matter[3] and would quickly date.[4] (Reviewed)

Generation War (German)
The series tells the story of five German friends, aged around 20, on their different paths through Nazi Germany and World War II: As Wehrmacht soldiers on the Eastern Front, war nurse, aspiring singer, and Jewish tailor respectively. The narrative spans over five years starting in 1941 Berlin, when the friends meet up for a last time before embarking on their journeys, enthusiastically vowing to meet up again the following Christmas. The story's conclusion is set in a time shortly after the end of the war in 1945/46.

Best Gearhead
Wheeler Dealers
The boys have set up shop in Los Angeles.  This "rat car" blew my mind.   Eddward China is the TV man I'd most like to have as a friend. Brilliant.

Fantom Works
Out of Norfolk, VA, it's is a close second if, like Wheelers you like restoration details.  Would be first if they concentrated on just one car per episode.

Top Gear, with Jeremy,  RIP.
