Marcella

cinema à la carte

Marcella
I'm verging on awarding Netflix  the coveted Palm d'Grlfren for their in house productions. So far everyone we've watched scored at least 4 stars. We gave Marcella 4½ stars, but since you can only do whole stars, it got 5.

"Marcella" is diabolical.  I saw somewhere that some fans were were "outraged" over the ending which left them hanging.  Peasants.

ASIDE: I have watched the Friday Night Lights series, but was unaware that it was preceded by the movie, which starred Billy Bob Thornton.  Me and the 'Sup loved it. *****

You're welcome

Have you tried "Bosch" on Amazon Prime? One of the best shows I have ever seen. Clean, stylish, great music, great acting, great writing.

OOOHHH!!! It's diabolical! That sounds like fun! Lets all keep supporting diabolical entertainment. At some point in the near future, you may wake up to discover that you are the entertainment for the diabolical. What fun that will be... and by that time, it will be too late to pick another channel or even to extract your screaming cat from the dishwasher.

I can't count how many series I've watched since quitting DirectTV. Netflix a plethora of good stuff. Amazon's Bosch was great in both seasons, Titus Welliver. I have considered Marcella but am currently into Lie to Me (never watched before). Bloodline (Kyle Chandler)had two seasons that I watched, but season 2 seemed to drag and get lost along the way, imo. Will def' give Marcella a shot.

WoW!!! Another TV series following the politically correct template of a female (or in some cases, male) lead whose boss is either another female or black or both.

Go on if you don't believe me. Check them out. Mentalist, Battle Creek, Gotham, NCIS, NCIS New Orleans (and) LA, Blue Bloods, House, Bones, Rookie Blue, Castle. Need I go on?

Yeah, I'm curmudgeonly, too, and tired of political correctness to assuage the thin skins of the oh-so-easily-offended and ready to sue types.

We really don't mind those. We loved S. Epatha Merkerson on Law & Order; we love Rocky Carroll on NCIS and Chi McBride on House; the list goes on. What we don't like is the agenda in commercials, where every other (if not every!) white woman has a black husband/boyfriend. Even when ostensible black couples are depicted, the woman is usually lighter-complected and often deliberately "racially ambiguous". There's a definite agenda there.

I became a NetFlix believer when they picked up Longmire. AMC has had some great shows. Turn and Hell on Wheels are currently in the rotation.
