Executive summary: It's just the same old sales tax deduction that you've been able to take in place of a state and local income tax deduction, for ten years now. The only thing that's "new" about it is that it became permanent last fall, instead of something that Congress had to extend on a year-by-year basis. I don't know how the "Oxford Club" hopes to benefit here, but *sigh*, I can hear my tax accountant saying "You Dumb Dick."
