If I have to choose my expert, I'll go with a guy who, unlike Alan Dershowitz, didn't plagiarize the good work of another author.

That would be Professor Rick Hasen who writes the Election Law Blog.

It is illegal for a person to solicit a contribution to a campaign from a foreign individual or entity. To solicit [which] means to ask, request, or recommend, explicitly or implicitly, that another person make a contribution, donation, transfer of funds, or otherwise provide anything of value. A solicitation is an oral or written communication that, construed as reasonably understood in the context in which it is made, contains a clear message asking, requesting, or recommending that another person make a contribution, donation, transfer of funds, or otherwise provide anything of value. A solicitation may be made directly or indirectly. The context includes the conduct of persons involved in the communication. A solicitation does not include mere statements of political support or mere guidance as to the applicability of a particular law or regulation.

Sorry to say that not everybody agrees with Sean Hannity and Rush, including me. More Anti-Junior stuff:

Megan McArdle: These dogs won’t hunt. These dogs have joined PETA and are moping around the house in “Meat Is Murder” T-shirts.

"This is not hearsay, not fake news, not unsourced leaks," [Charles] Krauthammer wrote. "This is an email chain released by Donald Trump Jr. himself."

Bullshit! Hasen is just another left coast hack, cut from the same cloth as BHO.

Junior's actions are not covered by the First Amendment. But I think I'll defer to Bush's ethics lawyer on that one.

But even ignoring that, it is a crime under federal statutes “for a foreign national, directly or indirectly, to make a contribution or donation of money or other thing of value” to a candidate in an American election.

Donald called Junior's actions "oppo research". And oppo research, as Trump would be the first to acknowledge, is a thing of value."
