Holtz's career has not been without controversy but here's the money shot: His first year as head coach at Arkansas, Holtz's team went to the Orange bowl, playing against the Oklahoma Sooners. Right before the game, Holtz suspended three key players because of violations of team rules. These guys between them had made well over three-fourths of the Razorback's points that season. Being as the Sooners had been expected to win even before the suspensions, it was assumed that there was no way Arkansas could win without those players. But Holtz refused to back down. People in Arkansas were calling for his head on a pike.

Arkansas pummeled Oklahoma 31-6, not quite a blow-out, but near enough.
