Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke. Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:
NOTE: Another ‘sign’ of a stroke is this: Ask the person to ‘stick’ out their tongue. If the tongue is ‘crooked’, if it goes to one side or the other that is also an indication of a stroke. MoSup Sent from my iPad |

Seriously... time is CRITICAL in a "brain attack." There are medications which can be given by first responders that can minimize or even reverse most of the damage caused by a stroke if used in time.
If you know anyone with a history of stroke, if there is a family history of stroke, especially in your parents or grandparents, you need to learn F.A.S.T.
Face, Arms, Speech, Tongue. (see above post.)
Someone you love is depending on you. My personal experience: my dad knew something was drastically wrong when he had his first stroke but was unable to communicate it because of the paralysis to his face and right side. Paramedics saved his life but could not reduce the damage.

We were lucky. Someone saw my son fall over as his was beginning and he was able to get the tPA shot within an hour. What was devastating to an uncle years ago was a two day hospital stay and back to work for my son. Take this very serious. Today's medicine can undo the blockage in short order IF someone else is paying attention.
