Lousy Strokes

URGE YOU ALL TO READ & SHARE THIS; YOU COULD SAVE A LIFE BY KNOWING AND PASSING ON THIS SIMPLE INFORMATION.

nO sTROKE hERE bOSS

Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.

Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:
  1. Ask the individual to SMILE.
  2. Ask the person to TALK and SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently) (i.e. Chicken Soup)
  3. Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.
If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call emergency number immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

NOTE: Another ‘sign’ of a stroke is this: Ask the person to ‘stick’ out their tongue. If the tongue is ‘crooked’, if it goes to one side or the other that is also an indication of a stroke.

Addled-up here boss

A CAUTIONARY TALE

Well this is a sumbitch.  After reinstalling
Win 8 (in a pique I deleted  it a month ago-without a reliable backup because that's how pissed off I was). I used to do that all the time, and it was a piece of cake. No more.

Just a month ago I finished the June Mahjong Challenge (3 puzzles a day) with 100% for the third month in a row, although I did have a real problem with one, and took me at least a dozen tries. I really knew something was amiss when I started the June challenge beginning Jube 17th. Right off the bat I had problems with even some "Easy" ones.  July ended with three unfinished ga,es. Now, this is all about memory. You have to remember what tiles you missed, amd where they were. I can't do that in any depth now.  WTFF?

Mosup says it's sugar.

Starting the New Year, I had a case of flu that lasted the better part of a month.  My daily 10,000 Fitbit steps a day plummeted to 6000.  Then I had what I thought was a torn knee cartilege.  No.  I have arthritiis in both knees.  Sawbones wants to do kneecaps;  No way, not while I can still walk and two Aleve's twice a day keeps them servicable, but  my steps went down to under 5000.

The poison ivy that turned into contact dermatitis was the killer. I spend the better part of the day watching movies and snacking.   I'm putting on weight which puts me in danger—warms MoSup—of getting Type 2 -- what the hell, I can't think of it (this is in real time)  ...  !Type 2 Diabetes, or worse.  My brain isn't snapping right.

Diabetes is the worse disease you can have because it attacks every part of your body. That prospect scared the hell out of me enopught that I got my harmonica and began building my lung capacity back up(3 pack a day smoker before I quit 12 years ago).  Harmonica playing is only thing that works.  I'm learning Dixie.  It's already paying dividends
—rode my bike yesterday.

Today I turned another corner.  After watching Mountain Men for 6 straight hours I was really pumped! Turned  the AC  up to 75° (from 72
°), the better to swaet. Went out to the garage, found my axe, and sharpened it!  Hoo-Rah!   I shot a mouse in the garage too.  I'm back!  Now, where that Eskimo woman I'm supposed to fuck?  Wait ... is that right?

The Big Itch Is A Bitch

Been itching to see you

Previously
As an aside, I've had a poison ivy rash that will match or surpass anything you'll see in this gallery.   My Doc put me on 2 weeks of  steroids a few days ago. (May 28)

It morphed into contact dermatitis, which sounds a lot more benign than it feels. Sumbitch moved to my first dance partner (left palm) on Friday.  By yesterday was so swollen I could not close my fist.  Hurt like a sob. Right arm throbbed enough that I had to take some Percocet.  MoSup drove me to the ER.  They had to cut my wedding ring off —to which I quipped, to nobody's apparent amusement, "I can go the singes bar again!."  Last night I slept for 6 hours (my Fit Bit logs sleep/restlessness).  That's the most night sleep I've had in a month.  Been averaging 2-3 hours. Took a three hour nap already too.

Moral:  None that I can think of, off-hand; sht happens.  Thanks for the well wishing.

Or, maybe you're just drunk?

People are always asking. "Say, Rodge ..

Can you stand on one leg? For 20 seconds? How about 5?

Your Balance on One Leg & Your Stroke Risk Linked

Inability to stand on one foot for 20-plus seconds could suggest brain vessel damage, study contends

MoSup told me this while I was putting my pants on and wobbling like a top.  So I looked it up. But, you can practice and make it better.

BONUS:  Only have one leg
? — Good news!  You can now wear a thong.

You're Welcome

DMSO

Today's Health Adventure

I am certifiable

I may have told this story before, but it had to be way before, so I'll repeat.

Several years ago a friend sold his hardware store in Beckley, WV;  went to Chiropractor school and opened a practice in Florida.  In an e-mail he told me that he was going gangbusters, and able to "cure" better than 50% of his patient's ills with applications of  DMSO (Dimethyl sulfoxide).  Stuff was widely used to treat race horses.  I bought some for MoSup.

She suffers from Rheumatoid arthritis and it was really beginning to affect her life.  This stuff worked PDQ on her feet, from whence her primary complaint.  She also found that by eliminating all red meat from her diet, along with the DMSO, she was a springy chicken again.
That was 30 years ago.  I use it myself from time to time for sprains, etc.

Fast forward.  I have torn meniscus cartilage in my left knee.  Did it around the first of the year.  I didn't know what it was, but it was bad enough that I had to give up doing my 10,000 steps (for Fitbit). Two weeks ago while I was putting some on MoSup's aching neck I thought, "Hey!" Applied some on my knee and there was an almost immediate and noticeable relief, but it stung like hell and caused a very itchy rash.  I bought some DMSO Gel With Aloe ($6.26 from Walmart) and tried that. It still caused some rash, so I applied some emu oil cream (also wondrous stuff) first, and voila.  Yesterday I did  9200 steps.

FWIW.   And yes, I am aware of the controversy about using DMSO.
You're welcome.

So these two dogs ..

              Catharsis

WOOF

The owner of a female dog who was "in heat" agreed to look after her neighbor's male dog while they were on vacation.

She had a large house and believed that she would be keep the two dogs apart.

Predictably, as she was drifting off to sleep she heard awful howling and moaning sounds downstairs.  She rushed downstairs and found the dogs locked together, in obvious pain and unable to disengage.

Unable to separate them, and perplexed as to what to do next, despite the late hour she called the vet, who answered in a very grumpy voice.

Having explained the problem to him, the vet said, "Hang up the phone and place it down alongside the dogs. I will then call you back and the noise of the ringing will make the male lose his erection and he will be able to withdraw."

"Do you think that will work?" she asked.

"Just worked on me," he replied.

More Black Plague

Confessions

Earlier in the month I carried on about how "Nature's Flu Shot" cured me of the black plague Obama's immigration policies have inflicted on this nation. Well, not quite, it seems.  After finally going to a real Dr., who found strep and other stuff, which pulmonary woes continue even as we speak, and are being treated with—what's that stuff that let's you hit home runs—steroids!  Yes steroids. So, don't always listen to me.

Plagues

FLU. COLD. BLACK PLAGUE.

This recent bout with the cold/flu/black plague was largely self inflicted.  We urged daughter to let grandgirl stay with us over the New Year period even though she had a very nasty cough (later diagnosed strep).  And she was sick, especially at night, so MoSup was ready, and me too.  Exacerbating the situation was having new windows put in the day after New Year.  Took six hours and the temps were high 30ºs.  But that's not what I'm wanting to say, which is how fkng stupid am I?

How many times have I extolled the virtues of the "Nature's Flu Shot?" Forgot about it completely until yesterday I got the sore throat and could scarcely swallow.  Fortunately I had pineapple juice and was able to make a batch pdq.  Slept about 20 hours yesterday, waking only for the necessaries and drinking a glass of this stuff.  Still have a bit of a sore throat, but much better, thank you. Make note. It works. (Girls will whine and cry that it doesn't taste good, so there is that).

Help, I'm Choking And I Can't ... Hello?

If you are choking on something, you can perform the Heimlich maneuver on yourself:

Make a fist. Place the thumb below your rib cage and above your navel.
Grasp your fist with your other hand. Press it into the area with a quick upward movement.
You can also lean over a table edge, chair, or railing. Quickly thrust your upper belly area (upper abdomen) against the edge.

If you need to, you should repeat this motion until the object blocking the airway comes out.

I was eating a bacon sandwich while perusing pictures, and guess what?  That's right.  I breathed in very slowly until my lungs were full and expelled hard.  Did it two-or three times before the bacon bit flew out.  That caused me to wonder, and not for the first time, what the heck does one do if there's nobody around for a Heimlich? Now we both know.  You're very  welcome.

Dana Milbank; Douchebag

“
There Are Eight Million Douchebag Stories
in the 'Liberal World.'  This is Just One of Them

Last week Dana Milbank, the noted Op-Ed writer for the Washington Post, recovered himself admirably after the baleful events of November 4th, and picked through the post-election wreckage, presumably looking to assign blame. Milbank’s studied conclusion was that President Obama should be tagged with the blame for the electoral debacle, which is not, in itself, a particularly startling finding. Milbank, however, does not pin the onus on Obama for his lack of leadership, his wrong-headed policies, or his general disinterest in his job. He reasons that Obama brought this defeat on himself by delaying his amnesty executive order until after the election. Milbank declares that such a bold and largely anti-constitutional move “would cement the Hispanic loyalty to the (Democratic) Party in the long run.” Mr. Milbank also claims that the open flouting of the national immigration laws “…is what is best for the country.” He did gave away the game, however, when he let it slip that Obama’s planned executive order is really a scheme to create another ten million Democratic voters.

In the heart of this column Milbank illustrates the liberal game plan at its worst. He is smug, smarmy, and never fails to remind the readers of liberalism’s assured moral superiority. He repeats the liberal echo chamber stock phrase that amnesty is “right” and “best for the country”, and that a politician should worry more about doing the right thing rather than political expediency. The repetition of these tiresome liberal hymns actually does serve to turn the daily debate in the Leftist favor. [Milbank’s Lament: Amnesty, Missed Opportunities and Lost Elections]

Hard as it is to believe, there are documented cases of cures; e.g. David Horowitz, and, erm .....

Entrovirus D68

Entrovirus D68

Enterovirus Likely to Spread Through Schools, Experts Say

What You Need to Know About the Enterovirus Outbreak

Unidentified Respiratory Virus Likely to Hit Kids Across Country

As of Saturday, enterovirus D68 had spread to 21 states across the Midwest and East Coast, with confirmed cases spanning from New Mexico to Montana to Delaware.

The virus is likely to spread across the country, ABC News' Dr. Richard Besser said Sunday morning.

"It's very hard for a virus to be limited by borders," Besser said. "I expect that it's going to hit the whole country."

There have been no reported cases of adults contracting the virus.

Adults may already have built an immunity towards the virus from previous infections, or may just get a milder version of the disease, Besser said.

Children who contract enterovirus D68 first suffer from what appears to be a common cold, with symptoms including a runny nose, coughing, and sneezing, according to Besser.

The symptoms then escalate to difficulty breathing. Besser said parents should look out for their children exhibiting signs of wheezing, difficulty eating or speaking, and blueness around the lips.

Doctors have found a way to treat the symptoms, helping kids breath more easily so they can get through the virus, Besser said.

[FULL]

My Son-I-L had an old band member friend visit last week.  He wasn't feeling well.  Went to the emergency room.  Died.  Coroner has the case,  but Enterovirus D68 is suspected as a possibility, despite there being no prior case of adults being infected.

Children are the most vulnerable; it was once contained on the west coast.  Now there's just a few states without cases.

Nobody is mentioning the huge influx of illegal aliens engineered by Obama, and the huge increase in TB and other third world disease associated with them, so I won't either.  Probably just a coincidence.  If you have school age children, know the symptoms.
