Well, you've got talent. Don't know how you managed that, but I've never had any issues with Win 10 or updates. -

How I managed that was by accessing my files. Just like that. Last week win10 ... what the hell, this is a story with no end.

That does sound a bit strange and I hate to say possible user error. I've been using Windows for a while through various versions and while it has some quirk it has never just up and destroyed my files. I have only had things like that happen with hardware failure.
How did you guy get them back if they were gone? -

Do not set up your laptop to sync with your desktop and then give your laptop to some else while leaving your account on it. The person you gave it too will remove your stuff and that in turn will wipe your cloud drive and everything synchronized to it. Don't do that.

Odd. Never had that happen on any of the Win systems here, and I run six of them - as well as Linux on a 7th.

Windows 10 gives you a ton of free cloud space on OneDrive. Just store all your backup there for free. It'll even sync for you. Case closed. Thank you.
