SHE SAID -- Conservatives Keep Losing to Leadership. Can They Change the Game?
[...]
The problem for members of the tea party is that the game is rigged against them, as they are repeatedly outmaneuvered and outsmarted procedurally. What they've found—and what Sen. Tom Cotton's controversial letter to Iran this week has proven—is that they're much better off taking the fight away from the House and Senate floors.

The vast majority of conservative firebrands have only been in Congress for a few years; House Speaker John Boehner and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell have been here for decades. Every rule, every parliamentary trick that conservatives could use to stick it to their leadership, Boehner and McConnell have already thought of it and found another legislative tool to stop them.

HE SAID
Mimms is right that leadership is getting the better of these fights. But it isn’t just that leadership has a better command of the rules. It’s not really as though if conservatives had more procedural tricks up their sleeve they could have changed the outcome of any of the recent fights. Leadership didn’t have a better knowledge of the rules, they were the only people who were in position to pull the trigger on the rules. The reality is this: conservatives lost every meaningful fight for the next two years when they failed to oust Rep. John Boehner and Sen. Mitch McConnell.

In other words, it isn’t that conservatives pulled the wrong plays. It’s that the wrong people were in the wrong positions. No amount of “experience” in the chamber is going to change the fact that as long as Boehner and McConnell are pulling the levers, we are going to continue to lose important fights. It’s nice to have a plan to get out in front of fights from a PR perspective, as Cotton has done with the Iran issue, but ultimately the corporate crony lapdogs are going to win all the important fights until they are no longer in the position to win them.

John Boehner allies fret coup attempt

Conservatives warn the speaker’s fate could be determined by how he handles the next seven days.

BOO!

.... Close allies of Speaker John Boehner are worried that his conservative rivals could move to oust him as soon as next week.
YAY!

Removing a sitting speaker is exceedingly difficult, and such an effort would almost certainly fall short.
BOO!

Yet growing speculation about the possibility of it – coming after Friday’s embarrassing defeat at the hands of conservatives and House Democrats on the homeland security battle — shows how vulnerable the speaker has become.
YAY!

Frustration with the Ohio Republican is mounting after dozens of hardliners voted Friday against his three-week funding package for the Department of Homeland Security. Hours of frantic leadership meeting ensued. After some backroom maneuvering with Democrats, Boehner was able to push through a one-week bill to keep DHS open. Obama signed the bill into law just 10 minutes before a shutdown of the massive federal agency.
BOO!

The stinging rebuke of Boehner on the House floor infuriated his supporters, who accused opponents of handing Democrats a huge PR victory.
YAY!

“Some of these 52 [Republican who voted no] are more worried about protecting their own careers than protecting their constituents from ISIL. They are more worried about primaries than they are about the country,” said a GOP lawmaker close to Boehner, using an acronym for the Islamic State.

“This is all aimed at Boehner. They want to take Boehner out.”

we have met the enemy and ...

Impeach Boehner & McConnell

First Barack Obama decided to overreach and extend amnesty by executive order. One judge in Texas has told him no and Republicans are hanging their hat on that judge’s order.

Then the FCC decided to declare internet a public utility. They overreached, rushed it through, and committed to as little transparency as possible to make it happen. Congress did nothing on this front and the FCC decided to replace the Congress on the matter.

Now there are reports that Barack Obama, by executive order and agency regulation, will curtail the manufacture of certain ammunition.

At some point men have to stand up and damn the consequences to do what is right. But we are not led by leaders of men. We are led by cowards — cowards for whom no oath is meaningful or sacred.
Again and again and again the President of the United States has met the boundaries of his powers and stepped across them. The Senate is now on the verge of confirming his Attorney General appointee who sees no limits to the power of Octavius Obama.

Given Barack Obama’s continuous overreaching of power, I must now ask if it is time to consider impeachment proceedings. Is it even possible?

Of course some of you think I mean against Barack Obama. No, can we impeach, remove from office, or otherwise put metaphorical cement shoes on Rep. John Boehner (R-OH)N/A and Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY)67%?  [Full Excelentness]

JOHN BOEHNER ATTACKS TEA PARTY:
LEADERS OPPOSE ME TO GET RICH

Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) is blaming conservative groups in Washington for turning him into a human pinata to raise money.

In an interview to air on Sunday’s “60 Minutes” on CBS, Boehner said he doesn’t disagree that much with conservatives on policy, but that the groups beat “the dickens out of me” in order to line their own pockets.

“The issue with the Tea Party isn’t one of strategy. It’s not one of different vision,” Boehner said, according to excerpts released by CBS.

“It’s a disagreement over tactics, from time to time. [Full]

No, it's about principles.  What would you call a man who campaigns on issues he knows matter to core Republicans, and post election does the opposite

  • “A month after its incredible victory, the GOP squandered its mandate, surrendering to the Democrats,” he wrote. “The GOP-led House of Representatives did not proclaim its mandate and hold off on major decisions until the Republican majority in the Senate was sworn in. No, they went to the GOP position of preemptive surrender and gave President Obama and the Democrats almost everything they wanted.
  • GOP did nothing to stop Mr. Obama’s executive amnesty.
  • “Mr. Boehner made the obligatory statements about cutting spending and reducing Obamacare. Yet time after time, when the occasion called for him to stand and fight, he chose surrender,”
  • Budget cave-ins galore
He's a liar.

Depose Speaker Boner

Whipping Boner

In my home state of Maryland, there were rampant reports of fraud during early voting in November.  A number of voters who cast ballots for Republican candidates witnessed the computer system automatically flipping their votes in favor of the Democrat candidate.

Evidently, this turned out to be a national phenomenon.

In other states, voters did indeed cast votes for Republicans, only to see the mandate overturned by the D.C. Oligarchy led by Barack Obama, John Boehner, and Mitch McConnell.

It is hard to exaggerate what has just occurred in Congress.  Democrats were completely repudiated and defeated in November.  Then, Obama unilaterally sacked our system of governance and granted amnesty with the flick of the wrist.  Yet, John Boehner and Mitch McConnell worked hand-in-glove to help the defeated Democrats pass a budget that fully funds Obama’s entire lawless operation for the rest of the year – as if the executive amnesty never happened.

Fight Boehner in January: Many felt that fighting Boehner during the Speaker’s vote in January was a futile exercise. But if this doesn’t change that mindset, Boehner will now know he has no reason to fear conservatives. It only takes 29 Republicans to deny Boehner a majority.
When some grassroots liberals began to oppose the bill because of tangential provisions, Obama and his allies reminded them that they had gotten “virtually everything” they wanted from the bill.  This, after losing an election.

Stunningly, only 67 Republicans, 29% of the House membership voted against it.  Even many of those members only opposed the bill once they realized their votes were no longer needed.

So where do we go from here?

We can’t change Obama.  We can’t change the GOP establishment.  But we can change the way the allegedly conservative members operate.

GOP leadership has been at war with them for years; it’s time they act accordingly. It’s time for all of the members who claim to be part of the conservative base of the party to unite behind several clear goals:

  • Stand Behind Defund Rider: The time to begin fighting amnesty is now, not in January. Conservatives must band together and commit to taking down the rule on any budget bill to fund DHS (the only remaining bill, thanks to passage of the CRomniibus) that does not contain a full defund rider ...- See more
  • Form a New Caucus: As conservatives have advocated many times before, it’s time for the 30 or so conservative members to leave the corrupted Republican Study Committee and form a group that will actively promote a conservative vision inside Congress. Despite publicly stating their intent to use every budgetary tool at their disposal to... - See more
  • Pledge to Oppose Procedural Votes: The forgotten lesson from this fight is that conservatives had the ability to block this bill but failed to do so.  When it became apparent that Democrats would all oppose the procedural vote, it only took about 17 Republicans to defeat the rule on the bill and kill the legislation.  We came up one vote short.  Had just one of the other 51 members who opposed final passage agreed to vote against the rule, this bill would have been defeated.  If conservatives are to learn... - See more
  • Fight Boehner in January: Many felt that fighting Boehner during the Speaker’s vote in January was a futile exercise.  But if this doesn’t change that mindset, Boehner will now know he has no reason to fear conservatives.  It only takes 29 Republicans to deny Boehner a majority.  It’s time to have that fight.  Once Boehner is denied the majority, the vote will go back to conference.  Sure, we will never get a conservative as Speaker, but we need to make it clear that conservatives will have veto power over someone who has failed at his job and has betrayed the trust of the conference. [The full deck]

I am particularly fond of Form a New Caucus:, and Fight Boehner in January.  Several years ago I noted how just about a dozen members of the Congressional Black Caucus held the balance of power, forcing DEMS to cater to their whims.  I saw this as a realistic way for Libertariansthen the only dissenting voice to establishment GOP cave-in dwellers—to wield power if they concentrated on getting House MOH elected.  Now, a united Tea Party, which includes recalcitrants like MD Rep. Andy Harris who, I'm saddened to say, voted with the Boner gang, can flex some real muscle.
