St Augustine Agonistes

La la la la la ..... "Always take the easy way" - Some Guy As seen Some years ago I confessed here that my attempts to read St. Augustine's "Confessions," were summed up by the margin notes in my text book (facsimile above).  I bought the Great Books of Western Civilization (ranked number one civilization in the world)  series many moons ago, and have been working my way through them for 40+ years.  Confessions is not the first, nor only work which greatness exceeds my ken (Ptolemy, Copernicus and Kepler evidently require an understanding of Algebra) , but dammit, St. Augustine? A few days ago I was looking for something else and landed on the "Spark Notes" page.  I got through high school using Cliff Notes;  and Classic Comics; Spark appears to be the same; difference being that Spark is free on line.  So, in a matter of a few hours I am able to pass Augustine's Confessions (Spoiler: he fornicated a lot  and stole pears)  You're welcome. My Grandson#2

La la la la la ..... Techno Kids Yesterday morning I watched grandson for a few hours.  We're sitting there on the couch and he leaves, then comes running back with his iPad?  Horry Clap.  The kid has an iPad.  But wait!  I know that cover; that's my iPad (that his mom and dad gave me).  He went into the den, unplugged it,  brought it back, booted it up, and in a flash had  fingers rolling through a screen of Micky Mouse cartoons.  What the Hell?  I don't have any Micky Mouse cartoons bookmarked, so how did he do it?  He's only two, so he didn't type in a search.  I filmed it. When his dad came to pick him up I told him, and he couldn't find it either.  It turned out that when they were here on Sunday,  his mom had used the You Tube icon (that I didn't know was there) and brought up Mickey.  So the next day he just went to You Tube and had at it.  Sheesh.

Justin Bieber???

HUH? I am to varying ºs utterly ignorant about current pop culture.  I see him smeared everywhere; but WTF is  Justin Bieber, and what did he do?
