Where I eat humble pie and nuke the NorKs.

Okay, I shine my grace
I am convinced by arguments made in these comments, and by other information that is now on the table, that Port-gate is a tempest in a teapot.  I blame myself for being an average American guy who fell for the hysterical ravings of people I normally wouldn't buy a stick of gum from (Rep. Peter King).  That said, the entire imbroglio is symptomatic of  the Administration's failure to defend itself until a firestorm has erupted.  Now, it's a lose-lose for Bush. Here's today's  WSJ  take on the subject, if you're interested (Ports of Politics)

ONE MORE THING ... charges that racism was  fueling the Port antis is off the mark.  Rather, hatred  and mistrust of Islamism, not race,  made my peter shrink.  I hated (and still do) communists, not Russians, Chinese, or Cubans.  Same deal here.

AND ONE MORE THING - Now that we no longer have to worry about that fate of South Korea [Youths Back N. Korea if Attacked] after we nuke the crap out of the North, let's do it. We need a treat.

When I think I can't possibly be more angry--arghhhh!

Kind of stuff that makes me want to be an isolationist no matter what.

So,Rodge, you're saying we've been tracking shiny objects like so many schooling fish in the water? That the bait isn't real?

Perhaps, somewhere between the MSN's exploitation of non-news and
under-reporting of 'actual' information, we've been duped? Add to that the White House missing the mark to inform the public on a (should've been recognized as) touchy topic.
Hmmmm. I've considered this. I understand the purchase of a company, previously owned by Brit's, BUT, in view of current events, I fully understand a fear all things Islamic. And that's just hard to get past. joyce

Joyce - yes, and I wouldn't have done it myself - because I have no hope of a rapprochement with Islam. Ever. But, I have not assumed power yet, so it's Bush's decision. It's an education thing, IMO, and this country no longer reads from the same text books, even when the teacher gets around to teaching a lesson, so confusion reigns. That puts a heavy burden on me, because it means eventually I have to nuke all but 572 people on Earth (You get to be one of the survivors ... you too Mary).

I think this is a case of watching the left hand while the right hand is actually doing something.
I am sure that the dems are grasping ahold of what they can finally claim as "thier" national security issue...

I just cannot buy that the Pres would sell us out like this, or that he just missed the ball on this one. I can't.

But I also feel like puking for being on the same side as the Peanut Boy...

Need input.
Insufficient data.

Malkin pretty well destroys the WSJ position on the topic today.

The ports: believe the sale showed up in business pages back in early December. Latest news is that 12 separate depts gave okays; Pres. and Congress only found out recently, as there are NO REQUIREMENTS to notify them.
On Korea: further we get away from the mid-50's, the less anyone knows or remembers about what the US did for the South. Knew some guys who froze their butts there (Chosin), and others who did duty on the DMZ in the '70s. Let's just walk away. Strange, isn't it, that Japan is now our "best friend" in that area!
