''I want to make clear that I am a progressive Democrat (which is why
I’ve posted diaries at Daily Kos for quite some time) and I have no
love for David Brooks or the New Republic. But I have to say that
behavior like what I’ve described above–not just behavior by members,
but apparently behavior aided and abetted by the site
administrator/s–allows me to understand some of the criticism of Kos
and his site flung at him by his critics. My treatment made me feel
more like I was participating in a cult in which I’d insulted the chief
leader and was receiving the deep six treatment in response.
''We Democrats critical of precisely this type of rigid, censorious,
know-it-all behavior on the part of conservatives? What is wrong with
questioning our standards and behavior once in a while? Must one be
labelled [sic] a “concern troll” and political enemy for suggesting that
political bloggers observe a code of ethics?

Richard Silverstein (Mr. Tikun Olam) kind of tickles me with his
emotional recounting. In preface to the above quote he
criticizes, among others, ''John Thune’s
behavior in hiring political bloggers to create sites which savaged Tom
Daschle without revealing their affiliation with Thune.'' It's apparent that ''Tikum'' is, in order:
- A decent, idealistic man, at heart.
- Politically ''progressive'' (which today covers anything from garment district socialist to communist).
- Worldly, but typically Liberal (ignorant/dismissive about what goes on in his own bedroom).
- This Guy
He's shocked over treatment at the hands of Kossacks after
suggesting that his Excellency, Markos Moulitsas, ought be diligently
circumspect about his own potential conflicts of interest, lest
he become like awful conservatives..
I mean, wtf?
First, the Kos community embraces an ilkdom comprised of
undergrounddemocrats, Moveon-dot-orgers, et. al., who run on a fuel of
almost pure hatred. Hate for George Bush, his entire
administration, his kids, brothers and parents, and hatred of
conservative Americans, and their traditional values. That's not
even the bad part. Feeding all that hatred apparently leaves no
energy to offer a single suggestion for doing things better
(surrender, and assassinating Bush are not viable). They
are, in their own vernacular, snotfucks of the first order.
And, where was Tikum when Howard Dean advisor Zephyr Teachout revealed
that Dean paid Markos and Jerome Armstrong as consultants, to ensure
that they said positive things about Dean on the Kos site?
It's a sad thing, Mr. Tikun, but all the nice progressive boys have
joined street gangs, and now specialize in drive-by shootings.
Your mom would say "I don't want you playing with those Democrats,
Richard. Find a nice blonde, Republican shiksa, do nice things,
and don't be stupid.''
