Maryland Home Show

Maryland Home Show - Yuck
Mother Superior and I spent the day at the opening of the Maryland Homeshow, held at the Timonium fairgrounds. See that Polish sausage sammich? I included it because it was the apex of this adventure. We'd have been more entertained spening the entire day wandering up and down Home Depot's paint aisle. The most exciting moment, after the Polish dog, came when some guy grabbed us to demonstrate how we could save our clothes dryer from catching fire with his lint brush (only $19.95). There were two waterless cookware demo stations, both with lots of chairs, and those guys are always entertaining, but they must have had today off.

In the past there were at least some magnificent garden displays; this year there was just one that looked as though some thought went into it, the others were uninspired, including one that featured diseased plants. And you had to pay to get into this thing; I think it cost is $16 with a coupon. This affair gets drearier every year, and I wonder if these things aren't this era's vaudeville, done in by the Internet, and a spate of home & garden cable programs. Anyway, don't go to this one. Stay home and paint your nails.

The boat show in Annapolis is supposed to be the best. Been? I tried like hell to squeeze it in this year.

Never to the stink pot show, and not to the sailboat show since I sold mine. But that was really great fun.

The wife (Mrs. Claws) and I missed it this year. Sounds like we DIDN'T miss it. I agree with you about it going downhill. I remember when there wasn't enough time to see everything. Now it's just, well, uninspired.

Now, starting the evening of November 10th there is the Irish Festival at Tomonium Fairgrounds!! Never been, but a buddy of mine's band (Barleyjuice) is kicking off the festivities, so I plan on going!!

I wonder if they will have a "No Smoking" policy at the Fairgrounds........
