Great scene. The ending came as a surpise, and a good wake-up call to many. Holy crap, what does it take these days?????!!!! Add Ted (conspired with the Soviets) Kennedy and it would be a "Good Start"

Lonesome Dove has been on my shelf since it was released in the VHS days. Right beside the Thorn Birds.

Me too. I haven't watched it for maybe ten years. Funny it would pop up in my head. When I first saw Lobesome Dove, this was one of the most powerful scenes I'd ever seen. Still is.
