The things I've seen on the Internet, the Japanese are kinkier than a Rastfarian hairdo. Anyone seen the movie, REALM OF THE SENSES? pure art.

Do you mean the 1976 film In the Realm of the Senses?

I've never met a single person that even heard of it, let alone saw it. When last I looked on the internet there was no mention at all, now I see it's been re-released.

Amazingly it is banned in Japan, and has never been shown there. Too ''pornographic.''

Did I miss something or are the Jappos getting bigger? That's a big girl.

Maybe the result of one of those US Navy types on liberty.

You are right Rodger, the full title is IN THE REALM OF THE SENSES. Many years ago when our now grown children were still rug rats, my wife and I were on a foreign movie kick and we brought this one home from the local video rental store. It wasn't rated; 10 minutes into the film, surprise surprise! Family TV night was over and the kids were rushed off to an early bedtime. Another good movie of that time was TAMPOPO (Sunflower). It wasn't as blatantly erotic; It was a good parody of the American lifestyle complete with cowboy truck drivers and corporate espionage. I came away from these films with a deeper understanding of why there are so many Japanese people.

As far as Japanese people getting bigger, I've read that that has been attributed to better diet.

I saw Realm of Senses in a Washington D.C. art theatre, and was stunned. Ten years ago I asked the local Blockbusters to carry it, and the clerk said it didn't even show up on the computerized list of video releases.

I went through a foreign film kick too. Tampopo was not a favoite, but these are
Europa, Europa, The Tin Drum, Babette's Feast

Europa is incredible.

My roomie and I left the theater telling people to get their money and leave.

He and I were so shocked by the--um, literary crisis--that we couldn't get up to leave.

I still get the creeps thinking about it.
