John Leopold, dickweed

''Gee, now that I'm elected I guess I should do something.''
For several years now it's been the case that Anne Arundel County, MD, has an amazingly high cancer death rate - highest in the state, actually.  Intuitively, I have always figured it had something to do with being planted hard on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay, and its tributaries. We swim in its waters, eat its fish, arsters and clams in great volume. Yesterday I received news that five (5) of our neighbors are diagnosed with cancer, mostly very bad.  One was a smoker.   We have a new County Executive just elected, nominally a Republican.  I say nominally because, to the best of my knowledge, all he's ever done in life is run for office, which is the hallmark of democrats.  Here's his solution - to ban smoking.

''Anne Arundel County Executive John R. Leopold called for a ban Wednesday on smoking in bars and restaurants -- and the Anne Arundel County Council moved just as quickly to snuff the proposal out, at least for the time being.

''Leopold, Arundel's new Republican chief executive, said in a statement a "high cancer rate in this county" made passing the ban a priority. He asked the County Council to pass legislation expanding current protection for other workplaces, such as hospitals and government buildings.

''But County Council Chairman Ronald C. Dillon Jr. said the proposed legislation was being returned to Leopold, to delay discussion or action in order to see if the Maryland General Assembly would pass a statewide ban.'' - Arundel smoking ban proposed

If AA County's high cancer rate was ... aw, forget it.  I mean this is the nicest, most constructive way possible Mr. Leopold - you are a fother mucking asshole. A better contribution would be for you to inject yourself with small cell carcinoma, and offer yourself up as a guinea pig for some radical treatment that may actually work.  How about chicken soup enemas?  Nobody's tried that yet.

P.S. - To answer your question, I do not smoke.   Seven years now.  By choice.

Communism continues to gain ground in SF: On Feb. 5, San Francisco will become the first city in the country to require all businesses to provide paid sick leave to their employees -- full- and part-time employees, permanent workers and temps.

and the law applies to both large and small employers -- even to individuals who hire a "part-time house cleaner" or "babysitter".

If San Franciscans are that damned stupid, they get what they deserve. The problem is, they export that stupidity to congress. There is an upside though. Instead of worrying about Muslim nukes, crashing asteroids, or killer plagues, I just think, "those c-suckers will die too,'' and I feel better.

Fort Bliss, in El Paso Texas, just raised the price from 2.70 a pack to 4.40 a pack. Seems they don't want the military to bootleg smokes to Texans who are now paying almost 5 bucks a pack. I just told the cashier that the PX and the state of Texas can go piss up a rope, I've just bought my last carton of smokes. I quit when this bunch is gone.

Navy Exchange gas stations pulled the same crap circa 1974 to prevent us sailors from bootlegging gas. (how?)

IOW the price at the pump bore no relation to the actual cost, completely negating the purpose of the Navy Exchange.

Thanx as bunch, a**holes.
