Laurel &Hardy & Trains

Laurel &Hardy & Trains
Today's Laurel & Hardy offering is the full length  (56 minutes) 1950 film Utopia.  This is another Laurel & Hardy I had never seen before. There's a religious cable channel (321 on Direct TV) that offers these films once or twice a week.  Thirty-four minutes of commercial advertising (pitching bibles, etc,) drove my crazy, but I snipped 'em all.  By the way, this film is in the public domain so you can show it at home and charge admission.

The second video I added is from the "I Love Toy Trains" series that runs on the RFD cable channel.  On this one actor Mandy Patinktin shows what kind of toy train set one can build if one is filthy rich.  Actually, this 30 minute offering is as much about childhood memories as it is about trains.  At one point Mandy remembers when a lamp broke on his Lionel engine, and damned if I didn't have the same one.  Since he grew up in Chicago, as did I, many of his memories are also mine.

Rodger, thanks for the smile that will be on my face for the entire day since watching Mandy Patinkin's trains! Seeing this grown man's eyes light with delight as he continues to pursue and share his lifetime love of this hobby was delightful. I've always enjoyed seeing him on screen, but I have a new appreciation for him today.

I'm glad it touched at least one person as it did me. :D

100% agreement with Juice. I'd love to be able to see that thing run in real life.
Thanks for the post!

Always enjoy videos and films of trains whether model or actual....I think ideas were taken from the L&H movie and used in several other movies. In the back of my mind,I seem to recall am Alec Guiness flick with similarities.Over the years you can see treatments migrate from L&H to 3 Stooges to Marx Brothers to Abbot&Costello...They are always still funny.
