Texas mayors frowning at border fence Web Posted: 01/09/2007 11:14 PM CST Gary Martin Express-News Washington Bureau WASHINGTON — Texas mayors say they will express their concerns about a border fence to Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff next week, as Republicans in Congress push the Bush administration to build the barrier. "Throwing money at the issue does not solve the problem," said Eagle Pass Mayor Chad Foster. "A fence, a wall — that is an antiquated solution to a 21st-century challenge.  A fella up North had the solution ... Border Wardens!  Won't cost the gummint a nickel, and not a single greaser will make it to Laredo. I made that last part up, but it's a lot smarter than spending (7) billions on a fence that will only spoil the view of Mexico for thousands of Americans.  Even the East Germans figured out that without machine guns the Berlin Wall was useless.  But first things first.  I can't believe this petition doesn't already have 50 million signatures.  Let's show the power of the Barn Army!  Hooooah!
