I just read this. It is from the NYT, but that doesn't necessarily make it wrong. It is remarkable, however:

"Today, a mere four crops account for two-thirds of the calories humans eat."

Wheat, corn, rice, soy. Prolly not in that order. They didn't mention sugar, not sure where that'd list out at. Potato just shows your western bias, you biased mofo you ;)

It occurs to me in my house? Malt and barley are close to top of the heap. Prolly just me tho, don't mean to throw off the curve.
And Whitecastles. Sliders fit no known category of food.

The FOOD that we and the animals that we eat depend upon to sustain us all is ...grasses.The major grains..wheat,corn,rice,oats,barley and rye etc all are grasses.
