Barney Frank, Ubangi Economist
There  are the  10 Most Economically Literate Members of Congress, according to  AMERICAN.COM: A Magazine of Ideas, Online

  1. Sen. Bob Bennett (R-Utah)
  2. Rep. John Boehner (R-Ohio)
  3. Sen. Kent Conrad (D-North Dakota)
  4. Sen. Chris Dodd (D-Connecticut)
  5. Rep. David Dreier (R-California)
  6. Rep. Barney Frank (D-Massachusetts)
  7. Sen. Judd Gregg (R-New Hampshire)
  8. Sen. Jon Kyl (R-Arizona)
  9. Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wisconsin)
  10. Rep. John Spratt (D-South Carolina)

First, a disclaimer.  I hate elected Democrat's guts, and I mean that in the kindest way possible. That said, I am being completely objective when I say it is impossible for any elected democrat to be included on a list of economically savvy people in any free society.  If they were, they couldn't be democrats, which overriding philosophy, after all,  is what?  Tax and spend.  Liberals are just too full of themselves to allow a truly free market.   I think Barney Frank's thumbnail sums up the lot.

''...  while he says he believes in free-market principles, he thinks they need to be checked with protections. "

Free market principles, yes,  but look at the harm they do to the little people, who need our help and guidance, so we have to make the rich pay their fair share, which by my calculation is somewhere around 90%, because there are just so many dollar bills, and  if  one person has a million of them, then a million people don't have any. Vote Democrat.

I remember one time when Barney put his 'free market principles' to use to the tune of $80.00.Not sure if he utilized 'protection'.

If you took all the economists and placed them end to end, they would still never reach a conclusion.

So much less 'economists' in congress.
