McCain and TET

Come on TET!

Why? A TET in Iraq would mean the so called insurgents (Viet Cong) would be utterly destroyed, and never again be a factor in the war. It would then fall to Iran and Syria (NVA) to step up to the plate and take their shot in public. Then we can nuke them. Yay TET! Boo McCain.

Seriously, this is another example of a smarmy politician yielding to an urban legend because it's easier than defending the truth. McCain knows better. Just as TET was a huge American victory, turned into defeat by that era's left media (Walter Cronkite, et al), today's anti-American media will construct their own false reality on any pretext. Look at the WMDs straw dog. What's more likely? That every nation's intelligence agency was wrong about Iraq having WMDs. or giving Saddam 18 months notice, while we diddled with the UN, gave him time to move them to Syria? Use your freaking heads. You cannot deal with evil on evil's terms.

Wait for them to strike it down just like they did that sucker. Rodge is absolutely right. Tet was a major blunder in the Viet Cong strategy. Generally an ambush doesn't go 4,500 to 45,000. So if we're going to get ten for every one of ours lost, bring on Tet.

On the other hand though, an Insurgent tet wont be 1/1000000 as efficient as the VC and PAVN, and the US Military learned it's lesson and you KNOW they'd see it coming.

We're fighting a brainless, barbaric bunch who doesn't have the numbers or the general battle-ware to be able to take ANY of our boys one on one. So the closest thing these assholes will pull to an offensive is hiding more bombs in bushes, then riding off on their camel/wife.; 2/13/07, 9:39 AM

Given the left's control of the message making process, I can understand the strategy, but you can see what it's led to. The truth no longer matters, the perception of it rules.
