St.Paul quote

RFD Jr.

Beware the "ear ticklers"

I lost RFD (the Farm Channel) with the switch to FiOS, and the MFCS who populate the rest of the cable spectrum were taking a toll on me. Last night I found EWTN, which is a distinctly Catholic channel, but I landed on it during the airing of a ''retreat priest'' sermon. Retreat priests are Retreat priests because they are talented speakers, and can engage an audience about theological questions most of us have.   I'm not selling this any more than I was selling cattle auctions, so take 'em or leave 'em.

He did bring up a verse from St. Paul that I was unfamiliar with (I'm, sadly, unfamiliar with most verses, by anybody). I thought it was very applicable to the political laity.

''For the time will come when people will not tolerate sound doctrine, but, following their own desires, will surround themselves with teachers who tickle their ears. They will stop listening to the truth and will wander off to fables. As for you, be steady and self-possessed; put up with hardship, perform your work as an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.'' St. Paul

I'll take that as a sign to continue my ministry here, and beat left wing ass with my jawbone.  Say Amen.

You crack me up Chuck. I just 30 minutes ago admitted to MoSup that I found myself grading the nuns during that rosary (nice, nice, nice, manly, wow), and she responded "You have a way to go."
Indeed.

Must I confess to having impure thoughts about Mother Superior, or shall I simply send in money and stock up on indulgences?

I remember Garrison Kiellor saying some amusing stuff about the catholics in Lake Woebegon. This was a long time ago, before he gave up comedy to devote himself to being a lefty retard.
He spoke at some lenght about his own religion and how severe it was. No singing, no clerics no church. They just met at each other's houses and sat quietly. He said that when he was a kid he envied the catholics with their big churches full of statues, organ music, etc. He had never attended a mass but imagined a spectacle like a three ring circus. He even mentioned the June Taylor Dancers laying on the floor making kaleidoscopic patterns with their arms and legs.
