Pssst

If I'm on your jury, you'll walk

Newsbuster folks have been wondering how the MSM will attack Fred Thompson, now that it appears he's in the race.  Warner Todd Huston's blog  has a notion.  I continue to see this amalgam of the public press and a political movement as the most serious threat to our survival as a nation.  Without their sponsorship, none of the other threats (leftist educators, liberal courts, today's Democratic party) could survive,  Here's an example  I just tripped tripped over.

Balloon #1 - Thompson is a traitor

As I chronicled in my last Newsbusters piece about New York Times TV writer, Alessandra Stanley, who poked at the good Senator over his leaving the TV show upon which he played a part, one line of attack says that Fred Thompson is not to be trusted because he is letting down the producers of the TV show. Since the show is in ratings trouble, his leaving looks like some sort of traitorous move as far as Stanley is concerned... not that anyone ELSE sees it, of course.

Balloon #2 - Thompson is a Bad Friend

This one is another stab at Thompson's supposed disloyalty. The UK's Timesonline is centering their attack on the fact that Thompson was once a very vocal supporter of John McCain's bid for the Oval Office, yet now he is "stabbing him in the back" by turning around and running for that same office himself.

As far as I am concerned, anything that dims McCain's chances is good for the country.

Balloon #3 - Thompson is Lazy

With this one, I think we have the winner as I have seen this line thrown off a few times, though this is the first time I've seen a full story on the charge. Newsweek has come out full bore on Thompson's supposed "laziness".

Fred! has casued a lot of intrest for conservatives. Now that 'W'and the admin has taken us "Yahoo's" to task saying we are demonizing the shamnesty bill, the DBM will pull any thing to discredit Fred! He gives the impression at the moment to be a sort of "savior" to the base but it is just still to early to tell. I like him, but my money at this time is still on Romney.

Take me to task, whatever, slap the side of your head, tell me I'm crazy, but, he has always just struck me as the guy who could definately shake out DC. Its not to say that as everything shkes out for the party that I won't go with the nominee. I will. The alternative is frightning and terrible. Just look at Pellooser! Shillery will make her look like a moderate choir girl.

darn Rodger, my name didn't go through on that post above.

Fred is seen as the Demokiller. He is the one Republican that will fire up the party, so the Demos know now is the time to hit, and hit hard. Looks to me like softball though. Can't wait for Fred to take them apart.

I can't help remembering Fred chairing the very important Senate investigation into Chinese infiltration of the Clinton White House. He was rolled by John Glenn of all people, who in return for a ride on the shuttle that helped him fund raise to pay off a few million in old campaign debt he was able to turn it into a camping reform hearing. Fred was snookered by one of the least talented Senators on in congress. An utter disaster, so don't get too excited yet.

I lived in Tennessee when he hair-lipped the governor. I liked him then, now, and every friggin second in between.

He's always struck me as that 'throw-back' we all dream of....the blacksmith that threw down his hammer and trundled off to washington for a few years to SERVE his neighbors, not himself. Because it was the right thing to do.

Oh, he's my choice too, but want to see some hammer.

Rodge,
Ya'want a hammer...
F.D.T. as President,
Tom Tancredo as V.P.,
Cheney as SofS...just for 6 months, then bring Ms. Condi Rice back, (She ought'a have some kind'a break.)

Haven't thought much past that scenario....YET!

Oh yeah,
And Hooker...
Just like Ronaldus Magnus:
God before Country,
Service before self,
And the knowledge that this service to this great country is not what makes up his "legacy."

*cough* unlike others who have proceeded them.

Too late - I'm already excited- for the first time since the November election disaster. Fred is the only candidate that when I read or listen to a speech I feel like shouting 'Hell YES!!'

I loathe McCain, and although I like both Rudy and Romney and would vote for them over a Dem- with Fred- I would be voting FOR him instead of voting AGAINST a Dem.

Lazy is good. I don't want the government being very active in planning how to waste money

I was listening to the Tom Hartman (bed-wetting liberal from Portland OR) national show last week. He and a caller were talking about some "dirty tricks" guy who has supposedly joined Fred's team, and is allegedly "worse than Karl Rove".
This may be good news.

Thompson did nothing in the Senate? Ya mean he didn't foist any onerous laws on us???
THAT IS A PLUS!!

FT is the ONLY Rebublican I can think of that actually intersts me.
Mostly because he doesn't NEED this job. Fred Thompson and Duncan Hunter or Tancredo- I'm happy.
HEy you guys been catching Dennis Miller's new radio show?
He knows squat about 2nd ammendment and gun stuff talks too much about Rosie, but is otherwise quite entertaining, and intersting.

I do not know any other way to say this so here it is. The lazy charge is nothing but a friggin lie by those that support other canidates. You do not win a senate campaign in the state of Tennessee by being lazy. There is no question that Thompson held the senate in contempt and the charade they put on and never really address the real problems of the nation. I know that many are disalusioned now I have to admit I am now that the Republican party has had there version of Jimmy Carter lite in GW Bush. I believe Thompson is the only person that can restore the GOP to it's one stated values that Reagan espoused. There will never be another Reagan nor should people try to be him but we need to go back to those fundemental principals that made this country great. I thought I could vote for Rudy but the more I have learned about him I simply cannot pull a lever for him. I could Vote for Romney but he would be a poor second choice to Fred. But it might all be for nothing any way. I believe if this immigration amnesty is signed into law it will absolutely destroy the Republican party.

I also believe it will set the stage for riots and violence like this country has never known. The illegals will be emboldened and demand even more to the point the tax payers can no longer provide it. and when the bennies stop we will be fighting for our very lives. I probably will be gone by that time but it hurts me to know it was a large part of my generation that set the stage for the destruction of a great nation that was passed to us by our fathers and we let it slip away with out even hanging one senator or congressman.
