Liz Edwards Takes Over

Sorry for the somewhat suggestive pic, but it just screamed at me after reading this New York Times back rub, Mrs. Edwards [Takes Charge] “ When Mrs. Edwards called in to a television talk show this week to confront the conservative commentator Ann Coulter who had attacked Mr. Edwards this year, it was a decision that Mrs. Edwards said she made impulsively and on her own. The resulting dramatic four minutes of television created a surge of attention that at least momentarily electrified her husband’s campaign, winning applause from the left and apparently spiking contributions in the critical final days of this second-quarter fund-raising period. ” The media sure did run with  it the next morning as Liz made all the morning shows.  Problem is the whole thing was contrived.  If you watch the Hard Ball segment Chris Matthews acknowledges a few time that that he knows Coulter is being taken out of context and lied about by Mrs. Edwards, but shut up already.  Ann can speak for herself, as she does here,.  but this excerpt from Bob Shrum's book "No Excuses" is  instructive about who the American people are dealing with in John Edwards.. “ "(Kerry) was even queasier about Edwards after they met. Edwards had told Kerry he was going to share a story with him that he'd never told anyone else -- that after his son Wade had been killed, he climbed onto the slab at the funeral home, laid there and hugged his body, and promised that he'd do all he could to make life better for people, to live up to Wade's ideals of service. Kerry was stunned, not moved, because, as he told me later, Edwards had recounted the same exact story to him, almost in the exact same words, a year or two before -- and with the same preface, that he'd never shared the memory with anyone else.
