“ Six-month imprisonment, 60 lashes for run-away Saudi woman RIYADH - A Saudi court sentenced a 20-year-old Saudi woman to 6 months in prison at a foster house for girls for running away from her family’s house, Saudi Al Watan newspaper reported Sunday. The woman - who said she ran away due to the pressures she was facing at home - will also receive 60 lashes as punishment for the same offence, Al Watan added. In Saudi Arabia, every woman must be accompanied by a responsible male guardian - either a close relative or her husband. Meanwhile, Saudi Ministry of Interior announced Sunday a Saudi man was executed by decapitation for killing an Ethiopian man to steal his money. In 2007, 21 Saudis have been sentenced to death so far. Saudi Arabia sentences to death people charged with drug smuggling, murder, rape, armed robbery and apostasy from Islam. ” I've had friends who were stationed in Saudi, and all commented on how they could leave valuables laying in the open without having them stolen.  They also attended the public floggings.executions held each  Friday, I believe.  The floggings were not as severe as they might sound since the flogger had to hold in place a copy of the Koran in the armpit of the flogging hand.  If he dropped it,he received the balance of lashes.  The removal of hands for theft are usually surgical, but the executions are real.  Execution for apostasy from Islam is simply stoneage, IMO.
