Bloody Che

Confronting Leftist History

The "Che" phenomenon
David Segal, WaPost

Dear UNC-Wilmington Board of Trustees:

I am writing to ask a favor of the Board – one I hope it will take seriously in light of our institution's desire to fight hatred and intolerance on all levels. My request is based on my concern that the rising number of Che Guevara t-shirts among UNCW students reflects a profound ignorance of his life and his true legacy. I think that building a Guevara Memorial in the center of campus would go a long way towards remedying this kind of ignorance. [Che! You've Got To Hide Your Love Away]

"Few doubt Che's sincerity." David Segal, Washington Post.

"[Che presented a] Christ-like image … with his mortuary gaze it is as if Guevara looks upon his killers and forgives them." Jorge Castaneda, Newsweek.

"Che's decency and nobility always led him to apologize." Jorge Castaneda, Newsweek.

"Bravery, fearlessness, honesty, austerity, and absolute conviction … he lived it – Che really lived it." Jon Lee Anderson, author.

"[Che's image] derives from a visual language … it also references a classical Christ-like demeanor." Trisha Ziff, Guggenheim Museum Curator.

"Che died a martyr's death in 1967." David Segal, Washington Post.

"A revolutionary must become a cold killing machine motivated by pure hate." Che Guevara.

"If the nuclear missiles had remained we would have used them against the very heart of America, including New York City." Che Guevara.

"We will march the path of victory even if it costs millions of atomic victims... We must keep our hatred alive and fan it to paroxysm." Che Guevara.

"Crazy with fury I will stain my rifle red while slaughtering any enemy that falls in my hands! My nostrils dilate while savoring the acrid odor of gunpowder and blood. With the deaths of my enemies I prepare my being for the sacred fight and join the triumphant proletariat with a bestial bowl." Che Guevara.

"Don't shoot! I'm Che, I'm worth more to you alive than dead." Che Guevara.

"(T)o execute a man we don't need proof of his guilt. We only need proof that it's necessary to execute him. It's that simple." Che Guevara.

Mike Adams' Town Hall piece is a treasure.  Here's another story [Counting Castro's Victims]  that Che' worshippers (like Michael Moore) evidently appreciate.

I'm a big fan of Mike Adams, he must drive the libs in NC crazy.

This is entirely off topic but maybe some computer nerd out there can help. About 2 months before I got my new MacBook, I was suddenly unable to access the second page of any TownHall column. Very frustrating. My old Computer was a PowerBook 4, great computer.

I went online with the new computer, I still am unable to access anything but the first page I open. No links, no "continued"

WTF is up with that?

MM - If I were mean I'd say something like: "Buy a Mac(snark!!)". But I'm not....Oh, oops.

MM- I have two macs, both running 10.4.
One is a PowerPC chip, the other an Intel Macbook, and each load Townhall pages just fine.

I assume you're using Safari for your web browser? would you try firefox to see if the problem persists? That'll tell us where the configuration problem lies.

Woah... let me take that back. The "continue..." button DOESN'T work with Safari. (I use Firefox for my default browser.)

The problem appears to be this line
(left carret) "a style='color:blue; href=/columnists/column.aspx?UrlTitle=che%21_youve_got_to_hide_your_love_away&ns=MikeSAdams&dt=07/31/2007&page=2> continued...

There is a lack of quote surrounding the href target for the "continued..." link. Safari is ignoring the_target. Firefox is interpreting it as a link.

So, programmer error @ townhall. I'll contact them and do the geek dance to get it fixed. Thanks!

Thank you Jack, Firefox did the trick. And as for you, The Real King of France, a pox on your PCs, this computer is sweet.

MM - be sure to download the AdBlock add-in for firefox. You'll never see another banner ad again and without all those ads, the 'Net is fast again.
