Teaching an old dog

Long hair, balls, male ... Long hair, balls ...

Since I was a kid it's just been intuitive that the maned lion is the girl, but of course it isn't.  Still, I still find myself doing mental gymnastics every time I see one, but I think this may, finally, be the image that straightens my brain out.
