You're too fat for me

You Asked for It

"You can see the logic in assessing if there is a significant health cost associated with this individual and that would be a reason for them not coming in."

This is a hugely significant story because it neatly shows the loss of freedom socialized healthcare will always ultimately exact as its price. Don't misunderstand, it only makes good sense for national immigration policy to deny entry to applicants with contagious disease (like AIDS), or those with no employment potential. We used to ourselves, before the policy was changed by Edward Kennedy. But BMI (Body Mass Index)?

Like socialist New Zealand, we swapped our freedom for aspirin and Band-Aids  .  Some of you fret because the Social Security retirement age is creeping up.   That's nothing compared to a mandatory euthanasia age that's in the offing.  So, when I suggest, as purely an academic exercise, of course, that hanging every liberal lawmaker in the nation will save millions of lives, not to mention the quality of same, perhaps you'll see what I mean.  The patron saint, and person most responsible for our socialized health system is Edward Kennedy.  Ahem.

Sounds good to me. When do we start?

Edward Moore Kennedy would be REJECTED instantly by any socialized healthcare scheme - how's that for irony. Even if one did not use his weight as a criteria (and it is considerable by any measure) there is his history of chronic alcoholism and almost mind-boggling stupidity!

Rush glitzed right over this with just a quick chuckle; I was astounded. Quite simply the most perfect example to date of exactly what you just said, Rodge. A smart Republican candidate would latch onto this story after the primaries as a powerful analogy.......but then, we're talking about the stupid party.

In this country where "profit" has long been considered a dirty word, kiwis go ballistic when some polly argues for offloading some of the
burden from the State health care system onto private health care providers, 'cos it's a step towards full blown privatization don'tcha know..., and privatizing anything that the government operates is bad for you.

Yeah, well... t'was better to get my cataract removed privately than spend months languishing on a waiting list.

So NZ is keeping out the short, fat and ugly chicks.

I don't see the problem.
