Purposely Homeless

Starting from scratch


“ Adam Shepard's descent into poverty in the summer of 2006 was no accident. Shortly after graduating from Merrimack College in North Andover, Mass., he intentionally left his parents' home to test the vivacity of the American Dream. His goal: to have a furnished apartment, a car, and $2,500 in savings within a year.

To make his quest even more challenging, he decided not to use any of his previous contacts or mention his education.

I love this guy and want to read his book. If there's one, there must be more like him out there. I'd suggest politics for Adam, but that seems to suck the soul out of all participants. And he doesn't deserve that. So,carry on Adam, and grow more prosperous every day.

The exact opposite of the book that University of North Carolina @ Chapel Hill freshmen were required to read a few years ago. [Former Clinton waterboy Erskine Bowles is in charge these days so expect more of the same.]

A book I highly recommend is "Life At The Bottom" written by a British medical doctor (Dahlrymple ?) who describes with great insight the mental disease that is poverty. Enlightening.
