That's an awesome tale. Hawks eating pigeons. Great! Now, if only a few seagulls could be added to that menu?
We've got red tail hawks as regular fly overs and they are beautiful to behold. We were quite honored last week when one chose to rest on our fence. I took it as good luck.
Yeah, nuthin' beats takin' the wife and kids to the park and watchin' an ol' redtail strip the flesh from a squirrel.
Cool picture!
How far removed some folks are from the food chain life...
Well, freakin DUH- what the heck does he think hawks do for a living?
I haven't bumped into any at the meat counter yet.
Proly thinks that they make milk in the back o the store:-)
RAK
Well, I'd say the hawk is enjoying a change in his menu. After all, kittens and puppies can be boring after awhile.
Hey RAK, this is inner ciry DC, where there is a 10,000% greater liklihood of seeing a dead human than a live bird, other than a pigeon. Hell, those eagle pictures of yours even knocked me out. On the other hand, I get to see hundreds of bikinis every summer day.
Hey, we have Bikinis in AK.

(I still say he thinks milk is made in the back of the store and meat comes wrapped in plastic...

According to CINCHOUSE's twitchers book it looks like a Cooper's Hawk
