I despise these people

Harry Reid says filing your income tax is voluntary.

Yesterday. Doug T sent me this video of Harry Reid explaining how our tax system is voluntary. Reid, I can't believe it, managed to stun me by the level of cynicism that allows him, and all democrats really, to look down upon us as a some blob of congenitally stupid protoplasm, waiting to be manipulated willy-nilly (even though some of us obviously are, alas), by his legion of puppet masters. Without further ado, I give you Harry Reid, with a special introduction by Barn Army Commander S.H.Long (recorded at a stoplight yesterday while returning from Food Lion. I'm not making that up,)

If I were the interviewer, I would have had to end the interview, telling Reid that he's either terminally stupid or a bigger equivocator than Bill Clinton. The alternative would have been to slap Ichabod Crane silly. He actually admitted to finding value in an overly complicated tax code because it has loopholes for the benefit of favored parties. He really is a loathesome personality.

But if they bust you, the first thing you hear out of their mouths is that you failed to file a return.

I wonder if you could get away with claiming "Harry Reid said"? Think it'd stand up in tax court?

After all, the IRS is supposed to follow the law. And Reid IS a legislator. (Oh, I need to rinse my mouth after that one -- threw up a little in there.)

After Al Capone's arrest, failing to file became tax evasion. After the start of WWII, involuntary withholding was added.

Filing started out as voluntary, but didn't stay that way for very long.

And as for fuck'tards who claim it is voluntary because it was voted on ... how does the minority opt out? If they vote, they get stuck with the majority decision. If they do not vote, they get stuck with the majority decision.

In this Republic, the results of voting are not "voluntary".
